How do you guys do it?

SpecOps produces a small universal mount pouch they call the "Frontal Assault Pouch" that works extremely well for solving the problem of where to put all the extra stuff.
It can be belt mounted and is big enough to carry a knife, Surefire Executive or 6P and a spare magazine or two.
I put all that stuff in mine and keep it from rattling by seperating the stuff with a piece of flannel.
I carry on left side with my cell phone pouch and only one person ever asked what was in the pouch and I told them the car charger and headset for the phone, "Oh" was the reply I got in return.
Good stuff.

Gun on belt, keys and wallet in pockets. Knife clipped to IWB at 1oclock under my belt. Cell sometimes on left pocket. Am I the only guy who clips a knife IWB instead of in the pocket? Pocket carry clipped makes pockets hard to access without removing my knife.

I wear a Wilderness Instructors belt.
G-22 in a IWB holster.
Knife clipped in support-side front pocket.
Spare mag (worn on road trip, left at home or in vehicle when out running errands).
Keys, wallet in appropriate pockets.
Flashlights, multi-tools and other junk is left at home or in the truck.

I always carry a small LED flashlight, pocket knife, wallet, keys, zippo lighter and, when I am not at work or carrying something larger, a SW 642 with speed strip reload.

flashlight, pocket knife and zippo go in the left front pocket or left cargo pocket if I am wearing any type of cargo shorts.

642 goes in the right front pocket with the speed strip going in either the watch pocket if wearing jeans or the cell phone pocket on 5.11's.

wallet goes in the left rear pocket

keys go in either the right cargo pocket or the right rear pocket

When I can, I carry a Springfield Lightweight Govt' model in place of the j-frame and always a reload for what ever I am carrying.

All this is supported by either a Wilderness 44" Instructor's Belt or a Safariland Basketweave Velcro belt when I have to wear nicer khaki's for work.

Another reason why, when the temperatures call for jackets, I prefer a shoulder holster. Gets the gun and mags off the belt, and keeps my pants on my waist.

Never a problem of where to put stuff. Right now (because it is my issue) I carry a Glock 19 in right hip holster, double mag pouch on or just behind left hip, a cell phone and a beeper on my belt. Sometimes pepper spray, carried on weak side in pouch. Flashlight, knife or knives, keys etc. in pocket of pants or jacket or vest or shirt. Both wallets in back pockets - yes two - one for creds one for personal stuff. Of course if I don't want anyone to know I am an LEO when off or on duty, I carry just the cred wallet so they don't see two wallets sticking out off my behind (dead giveaway). Badge on chain around neck. Handcuffs on belt or in pocket.

Holding it all up can be a problem but not usually; just wear the right sized pants and belt. Suspenders do help if you can wear them, they drive me bonkers.

all the best,
GB

Left front
Swiss army knife officers model
Inova X1 flashlight

Right front
small folder by zippo

Right rear
wallet
sometimes add large folder here or watch pocket

Left rear
keys on carabiner hanging off belt loop and tucked in pocket

Cell phone and pager on belt at 10 and 3

With S&W 642, 13 3", 60-4 3" or 65 4" pencil barrel IWB @ 4
Speedloader added to right front
When the 642 and the cylinder from the 65 come back from the gunsmith I will use a moonclip for them.

With 1911 OWB @ 4
1 or 2 Spare mag(s) in Left rear

with 642 in pocket holster right front that stuff goes left front.

I just got a new Digi cam for my birthday yesterday so I need to find where to put it and all of the stuff for it.
Found a bag (purse) my daughter was throwing out and it might become carry bag for extrastuff.

my advice is pack accordingly. if its broad daylight and you're going to walmart, skip the flashlight and the multi-tool. for me and my 30" waist, its gun strong IWB, spare mag weakside, walletfront left pocket, keys and cell phone front right pocket, and folding knife clipped inside right rear pocket. oh ya and a tube of chapstick in the little money pocket thing. keys and phone move to cargo pockets if i'm wearing cargo pants or shorts. i only carry a flashlight if its dark, and the multi-tool if i'm hiking or fishing or something along those lines.

Sounds like you're carrying too much on your belt, Batman. Definitely pare down what you carry and move some stuff to your pockets. :)

When I carry IWB (S&W 3913LS), the holster is the only thing on my beltline, except perhaps a cell phone (if not in shirt pocket). Gerber LST-II, keys, and Chapstick in right front pocket; pepper spray in left front (sometimes accompanied by very small flashlight); Uncle Mike's spare mag carrier in left rear pants pocket (3913's a single stack, so it's flat); and wallet in right rear. I'm a 32" waist, and if I carried a bunch of stuff on my belt under a shirt, I'd probably look like I was shoplifting or something. :)

Why does anyone need all of that stuff in Walmart? If I'm packing for an Arctic exploration or a week in the Outback than maybe... I only bring to Walmart the stuff that they don't have on the shelf like pocket knife, gun, spare mag and cuffs.

What the heck am I going to do with a mini-light and multi-tool in Walmart? Fix the electrical system if the lights go out?

Keep in mind there's a few LEOs in the forums here. Like someone else said - on or off duty, you're still a cop.

Also like others have said, a good belt is essential. I'm lucky enough my trouser belt that was issued to me fits the bill nicely. :)

On me:

-Bersa FireStorm .45 in El Paso Saddlery high-ride thumb-break holster on right hip, or EAA .38 snubbie in Uncle Mike's Pancake or IWB on right hip (4:00).

-Cell phone on left hip.

-(When I finally get it ordered and shipped) Spare magazine behind left hip.

-(Occasionally) Garrity LED 3AAA light in belt case in front of cell phone on left (only if I'm out walking at night, otherwise it's left in the car).

-Change, cash, folder knife (Kershaw Speed-Safe) and speedloader (if carrying a revo) in right front pocket,

-Keys in left front pocket.

-ID/Credit Card wallet in right rear pocket.

I don't see the need for much more than that. At 5'10" 165 lbs., that's enough to weigh me down some days. :uhoh:

Er... yeah, I'm pretty aware of that. The point I didn't do a good job of making is not that he shouldn't have the cuffs, but that in real life you're more likely to need the multi-tool than the cuffs, even if you're an off-duty cop.

Only thing on my belt is the gun and one spare mag.

Everything else goes in pockets. Cargo pants are great for this, some even have small pockets/open top pouches sewn onto the typical cargo pockets. They're about perfect for holding a knife, cell phone or spare mag.

ahh the BatBelt :D

I kind of like lugging around all this 'stuff'. When I unload everything at night I always laugh.

Wilderness 5-Stitch
Surefire Z2
Waved Emerson
Car keys
House keys
Glock 19
Extra Mag
Wallet...

Life is good

here's a simple way

Get a bigger waist like many of us :neener:
I'd go down to a single knife.

Where do most people carry their keys?

I've taken to carrying my J-frame in my front left pocket (I'm a leftie), and it has displaced my cell phone, so I've moved the cell to my waist in a case. Carrying a speed strip in the change pocket of my jeans, and my keys in my right front. But I also have life savers and spare change in the pocket with my keys, and it gets a bit crowded. Is it feasible to carry keys on a belt loop with a carabiner or something?

LMAO... you don't know what you'd do with a multi-tool, but you bring cuffs?

At least I don't have those to carry anymore. When I lived in CA, I worked as a bouncer for several years. After meeting a few of my ex customers on the street, I started carrying cuffs with me. Easier than holding them down, I figured.

I don't notice the weight so much now. Still need to do some adjusting, though. Changing out the flashlight helped, and in colder weather, my keys can go in a pocket, instead of a belt loop.

Yer overloaded, Batman. :D

What works for me is the SIG in a Comp-Tac C-TAC or Undercover, my cellphone, and the daily knife in the pocket. I don't feel compelled to carry a Leatherman, a flashlight, a tactial triple-mag reload, Batarangs, flares, smokers, Claymores, grappling hooks and rappelling gear, ceramic plates, MRE's, night vision, field ID guides, translation manuals, quad .50's or the 10th. Mountain Division's TO&E with me to the store.

Aside from the (small) keyring with house and truck keys, my wallet, and whatever change I have in my pockets, I feel pretty well equipped when I have the aforementioned SIG and knife. I let the professionals go places where someone with more stuff HAS to go. I just take care of me and mine, and stay out of the spotlight.

Regards,
Rabbit.

the only thing on my belt is the G30. Everything else goes in my pockets....

Lemme see now....

Been packin' concealed for nearly 40 years now..

I carry a 1911 IWB

Extra mag, pocket knife, and keys in my pants pockets.

Cell phone in a shirt pocket..

Up to now, I have only had need for the knife, keys, and that dammed cell phone!!

So far, so good!! ;)

I travel light.

Kahr K9 or S&W 36 in strongside OWB holster
Small Sebenza clipped in right front pocket
chapstick in right front pocket
keys and change in left front pocket
cellphone (Treo 600, not small) clipped on left side or in left front pocket
wallet in right rear pocket

Sometimes, I substitute a P32 in my right front pocket if I need to go lighter.

Chris

I just bring the gun, extra mag (sometimes) and my cell phone. Honestly, the chance of getting into a prolonged conflict at the Walmart are pretty slim.

It's great to be prepared, it's another thing entirely to look silly.
