How do you organize your gun "stuff" (parts/accessories, etc.)?

I'm looking for ideas on how to organize parts, accessories, and other stuff related to guns. Does anyone use any particular storage bins, shelves, etc.? Any manufacturers make anything specifically geared toward gun "stuff" organization? Pics of a well organized "gun area" if you are so willing would also be appreciated. Even if it's just something you saw somewhere else that worked well, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

OUCH

I try to keep all of my stuff that I take to the range in my range bag. This way I have ammo, eye and hearing protection, targets, staples and a staple gun, and cleaning stuff ready to go.

My reloading stuff and tools are a different story.

I keep my reloading supplies in MTM Ammo crates. Bullets are kept in Harbor Freight small parts plastic bins. Ammo and cleaned brass ready for reloading is kept in MTM or Berrys ammo boxes.

Dies are kept on turrets in Lee red turret storage containers.

Gun specific tools such as my punches, hammer etc are kept one of the Ammo crates. General purpose tools are kept in my tool chests and rollaway.

I will admit though that it's a constant battle to keep it all organized. So putting stuff away when I'm done works best. But since I use a Lee hand press to recap and a Lee hand primer to prime they sometimes find themselves sneaking around the house ;-)

I use the plastic bins/lids you can get at Home Depot. I get one of those 3-4 shelf plastic storage shelves and store the bins on there. All different sizes of bins depending on what you have to store. You can stack the bins without using the shelves but that makes access a little more difficult.

Primers, powder and bullets are stored on shelves on or near my loading bench in their original packaging. Small parts and tools are stored in a set of plastic drawers. Dies are also on a shelf on my loading bench, in their original boxes. My ammo and accessories are stored in metal 2 door cabinets. The ammo is mostly in 50 caliber ammo cans. Some is in 50 or 100 round MTM plastic boxes. My bullet molds are in a MTM dry box under my loading table. Brass is stored in plastic coffee cans on shelves in the storeroom. Spend some time browsing around in Walmart and look at all of the plastic storage containers. Check out the "show your loading bench" thread for more ideas.

This is an interesting topic for discussion,,,
I've been struggling to find a good method myself.

The deal is I own 65 handguns and rifles,,,
But I also have most of the original boxes as well,,,
Along with original grips I have replaced out and various accessories.

I have all of my guns catalogued for my heirs,,,
And my younger brother knows where the catalog is,,,
But I need to somehow tie the "extra stuff" to the proper guns.

I'm trying something now that might work,,,
I bought some heavy duty paper gift bags with handles,,,
I took a picture of one of my guns and photo-shopped the make, model, & serial number.

Next I spray glued that picture to the bag,,,
Then I placed everything that goes with the gun inside it.

Next time they go on sale at Wal Mart,,,
I'll buy a dozen of those stack-able plastic egg crates,,,
I should be able to fit 3-4 bags inside each of the egg crates.

Then some quick printed label for each egg crate,,,
Denoting the guns it holds the accessories for.

I know what and where every little item is,,,
But if my Brother has to dole out my guns after I die,,,
This system should make it a whole lot easier for him to manage.

For the rifles I'll just leave everything in the original boxes,,,
But still do the picture with make, model, & serial number affixed to them,,,
The few I don't have the boxes for will share egg crate space with the handgun bags.

I do realize this will take up a decent amount of closet room,,,
But I do feel the effort will be worth it in the long run.

I've basically got a "safe room" dedicated to gun stuff. I'm a huge fan of see through plastic containers combined with a label-maker. I also buy/scrounge cabinets when I can. For my reloading equipment I use a rolling tool chest for the smaller parts and dies. I use kitty-litter containers for the high density pistol brass and a bunch of shelving under my reloading bench.

Like a lot of stuff, it's a constant "work in progress".

Wow. That is awesome and well organized. Thank you for sharing that. Having a dedicated room like that would be fantastic.

I'm sure there are specially designed storage boxes aimed at gun owners. I've noticed that as soon as someone attaches the word "gun" or, better yet, "tactical" to a $12 injection molded tackle box, the price suddenly jumps to $30. I shop for little containers in the dollar stores, first, and then in the fishing, sewing and hardware areas of the big box retailers before I start looking up anything "gun" related.

Amazing! I dream of being that well organized.
I also dream of an actual room, instead of a six foot by eighteen inch closet. But I use every inch of the six feet.

I received one hundred, lidded fruit salad containers from the local university. They are about three gallons and square-ish, with a strainer at the bottom. These are wonderful for brass. They are white and a permanent marker denotes the interior contents as well as wiping right off with break cleaner. The colander bottom collect debris till the cases are ready to clean.

The rest of the bench, well.... Dies go to the left and cleaners and sprays to the right with a hill of bullets in the middle. All the powder goes on the floor with the buckets.

With the door closed it looks very tidy.:)

I have these:

Since I no longer work I use my Kennedy machinists box to store tools, small parts and cleaning stuff, holsters are in a plastic tote with desiccant. Ammo in 50cal cans, misc stuff is either in a metal cabinet or hanging from a peg board above reloading bench.
