I am NOT directing this at Nick Ballard or anyone on this board.
Opinion and attitudes are mine alone.
You lurkers out there, pay attention too.
You see me getting robbed, or in a bad situation and if you are a Wannabe with a CCW Badge, Handcuffs, wear the same color civilian clothing that LEOs do , and got a Crown Vic [ any vehicle like LEO] ...get the hell out of my life!
I do not want you anywhere me and any situation I may be in. Bad Enough I am in a bad way, may get hurt, may get dead. You show up and start playing the hero [cemetaries are full of dead heros] and I get hurt because of you... you will hear about it. I get dead because of you, again, I will somehow let you know I do not appreciate being dead because of you.
Don't even cause hurt or injury to anyone I care about as well ....
Give me a person that - heck give me a Gun Grabber that hugs trees and is local PETA Chairman to honk a horn , flash lights, or at least calls on Gadget Cell phone to 911 " got a guy I think getting robbed, overtaken, carjacked..."
Give me a wheelchair bound elderly person that lets the dog out to growl, bark and raise hell...
Give me a fellow that just hits the brakes and stays at distance with LEO on line with bright lights...
Give me teenage lady with daddy's SUV to do something...
Don't come near me if you are a wannabe anything...I can get hurt or dead all by myself - thank you very much.
Now if you are Preacherman, Chris, Larry, Sandy, Dave, Oleg, pax, El Tejon, LEO [ oh my Steve said LEO, don't he know they are evil and the Devil's helpers?] ...and others here...
Now you folks can bail my butt out anytime...

Nick: Hi, I'm new to these forums, but I was a Security Guard, Store Detective, Sheriff, Constable, And Police Officer and Bounty Hunter, spreading over twenty five years. I retired, and haven't carried a gun or bothered anyone since LOL
The posts here telling you not to do it are right, and I agree, except, that I was always pretty hard headed, and always did when they said don't.
I made thousands of arrests and some were as before quoted very dangerous because people who commit crimes don't always submitt when you say they are under arrest, even at gun point, or after having been tapped repeatedly in the head with a blackjack.
They learn earily what to do and what not to do when arrested by the police, and they can tell if you know what your doing and if you don't.
Most areas allow a private citizen to arrest for a felony committed in your presents if you know for sure.....SURE, that the crime was a felony, and the person arrested committed it. If you make a mistake you will pay big time for your error.
But, lets be real, do you have hand cuffs, a radio, can you dial your cell phone while your knees are knocking together and you hands are shaking. No joke, my first arrest had me in a complete shambles.
The bad guy knows all this....so, if your worried about retreating from a criminal in your own home, simply retreat to your gun room, call 911 and tell the guy to exit or exit forever. If he is real bent on hurting you ......take care of business.
I have sat in a cafe and listened to a fellow officer .....(not my partner) get a radio call for a burglary in progress, and then finish his food for 1/2 hour before going on the call.
To bad but thats life.
One might think from reading all the don't do it's that the cops are just greedy for making arrests....no, it takes time effort and experiance to learn the huiman animal, and thats it.
I find it interesting, that lots of people get gun permitts and then think they should go around policing the world around them......No.
If you want to arrest people....go get a police job....then you will get training, and someone to help you through the first arrests which can be real difficult.
Use the gun to protect yourself from death or serious bodily injury, when there is absolutely no other method available to you..
If you watch were you go, and what you do, you will most likely never have to use the gun for anything other than target shooting.
Most of the actions taken in criminal cases are judged by what a reasonable man, or woman would do under the circumstances. A reasonable man, would simply mind his own business, and follow the procedures in place for protecting one's self and family. If you don't like the retreat law, move to another state or area that has a law more to your liking.
Attempting to twist around the law to accomidate your dislike for retreat will most probably get you in trouble.
Also, keep in mind, that the Cops, and the Bad Guys, and the Judges work together on a daily basis. Victums actually are not a big a part of the above as you might think, and not that they don't get good service, but they are just not as close knit.
You could easily find yourself as one of the Bad Guys as without the Police job or the Judges robe, you just won't fit in to the daily routine.
