How far do you drive to shoot if at all?

My range is 7-8 miles from my house. I can be there in 15 minutes.

Its $120 a year with $120 due up front so your first year is expensive at $240 but I don't consider $10 a month to be expensive. We have 100, 200 and 300 yd rifle range with 12 covered permanent benches, a 50 yd rimfire range where the shooting stations are covered, 9 pistol bays, trap, skeet and a full cowboy action town.

There is always something going on if you like competition. We have IDPA matches regularly, several rifle competitions, rimfire matches, cowboy action once a month, and trap and skeet shooting ever Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. There is a small fee to shoot competitions (usually $10 for members and $15 for guests) and trap or skeet is $4/25 for members and $7/25 for guests.

About 16 miles to my club which I am now a life member. It cost me $100/ year up until I was a member for 5 years and > 65 years of age.I became a life member just now. It has a 100 yard rifle range and also trap range and 50 yard pistol/ small bore rifle range. The club holds monthly IDPA matches and requires NRA membership.

From home about 20 miles to BLM land (using Seven Mile Mountain as a ~210 degree backstop). From my cabin on Mt. Grahm or my mesa (and future home site) near Peeple's Valley: 0 miles :D

It takes me about 25 mins to get to the OTA here and from there anywhere from 5-15 mins to get to an actual spot. Biggest issue for me there is ensuring I am not on any of the NG ranges and that no one is shooting at the hill behind me. I also normally spend a good hour or two trying to clean up others messes to help ward of the BLM from closing it. Our actual range that I use is about 20 miles and $8 for the day. It goes up to 200 yds (though it does offer longer but I am not sure what it takes to actually shoot from them).

I have a range about 5 miles from my house, but I end up driving 70 miles each way to go down south and shoot at a Free Range Facility with Armoredman.
His range facility has No RSO and we can shoot out to 300 yards on the rifle range.
The range by my house is only 200 Yards on the Public Range.
Also, the range by my house is always Packed.
The range down south durring the week , there might be only one or two other shooters on the rifle range, and they have pistol and other shorter ranges so it helps with the crowds if there are any.
But I can drive 25 minutes from my house and do my Dove, Quail, Bunnies, Deer Or Javalina Hunting.
It is about an hours drive for the Elk and Squirrel

Im jealous of all you guys that can shoot off your back porch. One day, I hope.

In the meantime, theres a range about 20 mins from my house that has a hand-thrower clay range, 5-8 pistol bays of about 25 yards each, a combined rimfire / short rifle range of about 50 yards, and a 200 yard rifle range with berms every 50 yards for $75 per year.

20 miles to the 100-yard range every week or two. 75 miles to the 1000 yard range every month or two, although I've never attempted anything further than 565 yards, and that's only on calm days. Amazing how far we travel to practice with our beloved pea shooters.

I am 20 minutes from a great rock quarry, and 30 minutes from vast desert. Sometimes I still go to organized ranges, mostly when shooting with noobs who want to stay out of the snow.

Sometimes while I have lived in the more urban areas of Utah, it was quite common for me to drive more than an hour to meet up with friends and family and shoot somewhere close to them.

Hi Taliv,
where do you shoot in FL. Planning to take the wife to the apleseed on March (Son & Daugther already in.)

I have a short rimfire range off my patio and a better 'any caliber' range about 75 yards from the house. I also belong to a club about 45 minutes away that has ranges out to 600 yards.

I belong to two clubs

One, the best in Maine, is 40 miles from my front door and only 1 mile from Cabelas. It costs $175 a year and worth every penny. The other is about 15 miles from my house and very nice but only has ranges out to 100 yards. I use that range when I am short on time and shooting only handguns or short range rifle. That range is only $40 a year.

Two years ago there was only one indoor range around here. Now there are four.
The one I'm a member of is about 15 miles from the house but that's with a detour to pick up a shooting buddy. The membership is $200 a year with 5 guest passes I believe. Those guest passes have earned them at least 1 new member and 1 firearm sale.
The public range is about 15 miles north and has grown from a 10 bay 100 yard rifle range to add 10 pistol bays and trap field. It's a little crowded these days.

I drive 15 min to to one of the top clubs east of the Mississippi. $450 per year with a three year waiting list.
