How far out should a .223 be expected to shoot?

While I do consider myself socially inferior to sling shooters in general, and not worthy of occupying the same planet as Palma competitors, at my age and level of experience and interest, it is F-T/R or nothing.

M16 qualification is 400 meters. BUT you could do well out to 800 meters barring no major wind as you will find your groups float ALOT even in the 5mph gusts.

Its a great way to shoot though ... especially how economical the rounds are compared to all others these days :D

"How far", you ask?

Davcid Tubb launched one a mile-- and hit the target! So I guess a .223 is supposed to go a mile...

The world record for as varmint hit with a .223 is 1,770 yards...
