I sometimes wonder if I'm carrying too much in my range bag. Between my pistol, lock boxes, spare magazines, ammunitions, tools, spare parts, etc., my range bag weight about 20 lbs on the nose.

How heavy is your range bag and what do you carry in it?

I have really tried to minimize the amount of crap I take to the range.

In addition to the gun box, I bring a tool caddy like this one from Home Depot. It holds eyes and ears, targets, ammo (rarely more than a hundred rounds of centerfire and another hundred of rimfire - I prefer frequent small trips as opposed to "all day long with everything I own") and a multi-tool. The caddy also functions as a convenient place to dump the empties.

I've never weighed it, but I doubt it's much more than five pounds, depending on how much of what kind of ammunition I bring.

Geez, I don't have a scale that will handle my usual range bag.
Tomorrow it will contain pistol, 12 loaded magazines, a box of reserve ammo, holster, mag pouches, glasses, ear muffs, brass squib rod, screwdrivers, pens, brass bag. That will see me through a six stage USPSA match.

Mine probably weighs more that that! I have to much stuff, but the range is out in the woods (modern though) so you need to be self sufficient,
I have the Midway combo. Large bag for guns, targets and tools, Other one for ammo, I have a third smaller bag for just 22lr ammo and stuff!
Old Boy Scout, Be Prepared!!:)

I need to simplify my life!

when i'm shooting bolt guns, my bag is a pack and it's got what i need to shoot a match in it, and to hike and shoot

when i'm shooting carbine/pistol, my bag has two ammo cans, and a bunch of 3gun stuff etc, staplers, tools, etc. it's heavy as balls and the size of a large duffle bag

My bag is very light 15ish pounds when headed to the indoor range for pistol shooting. 2 or 3 pistols rounds 2 muffs glasses and a husky multi screwdriver. Going to the outdoor range is multiple bags with front rear rests piles of ammo plus all the pistol range stuff. I should make or get a cart for the rifle range.

My bag weighs 18 pounds without my gun. I normally just carry that in my holster. That includes ammo, 12 magazines, my cleaning kit and loader for my .22 as well as my binoculars and ear protection.

Going to have to be more specific. My range bag can go from pretty light fitting into a small tool bag to a setup that has wheels depending on what I am doing.

All good information. I have a pistol bag, a rifle drag bag, and an ammo/mag box. Depending on my range day I take the bags needed. The pistol bag is the surplus canvas mechanics tool bag and is stocked tools and supplies for the pistol range. The rifle bag is a drag bag with side pockets also stocked with what is needed. There are duplicate tools in each because I have left vital items in the other bag at home.
I pack a 50cal can with ammo and mags as needed.

Along with the ammo I'll shoot there is always ammo that come back with me. I always have ammo for SD, the best that money can buy.
Whatever guns Im bringing I have extra ammo for the trip. Extra12 ga slugs 25, 22 rimfire 50, .40 3 magazines, and so on.

Dang it, y'all made me go weigh mine! It sets at 27.8lb. I just went through the range bag a few months ago to eliminate unnecessary items. It was almost 10lb heavier.

My bag consists of: a set of Caldwell shooting bags, Leupold spotting scope & tripod, 50 pack of white paper plates (for targets) staple gun & box of staples, a complete 1/4" bit set & driver, Leatherman multi-tool, 4 section cleaning rod, small Otis multi caliber cleaning system kit, ink pen, a red Sharpie, 2 sets of over the ear muffs(1 electronic), a few pair of foam ear plugs, 2 pairs shooting/safety glasses, a pair of reading glasses , small notebook & range gate key.

I too, almost need a Bobcat. In addition to three or four handguns and ammo, I carry tools, a cleaning kit, a FAK, my and spare PPE, a monocular, and targets/stapler amongst other smaller support items.
Does "need a Bobcat", tell you anything?

I have no unnecessary items in my bag.

Dang I did not realize how mush most people take with them.
I store all my handguns in the case club 5 gun case, it has room for 30 mags, and 5 handguns. But I reconfigured the foam inserts to make room for hearing muffs at the cost of less mag storage. Fully loaded it is 23.4 lbs. And thats all I carry there. I usually buy ammo there.
I have all my firearms in similar cases. but have three of the pistol ones like the one below.

Thats 5 guns, 4 mags each plus one in the gun so 5 total each. two electronic ear muffs. and case at 23.4 lbs.

the link above shows it in its original form, here is the alterations I have made to mine.

As promised:
Rifle bag, 18 x 12 x 10± Current weight: 15# (has about 200 5.56 rounds)
Rifle bag small.jpg
Pistol bag, 12 x 10 x 8 ±, Current weight: 22# (around 300-400 rounds)
Pistol Bag splayed.jpg
Both bags have IFAK; the rifle bag also has a current, MOLLE, IFAK with the extras.
There's at least one spare magazine for every thing that has a magazine in it.
There are random pocket tools, and each has a Gerber Dime.
There's hearing pro in each of them as well.
Even have a box of pushpins and common staples.

I only carry my hearing & eye protection, targets, stapler & staples, gun cleaning kit & a small can of cleaning spray, a few rifle snakes & a few tools in case something goes wrong.
All that & it may weigh about 10 pounds. Can you imagine how much it would weigh if I had my guns/ammo in it too, it would have to have wheels, big wheels. LOL
