Last day in Virginia. I was sitting at the edge of some woods near the crest of a gentle rise about 900 yards from the James River. Could see trains going by on the opposite bank all day. When one wen by I looked down into the field and saw movement. I was pretty sure then it was deer. I knew it was not human or dog, so I crank my scope up to 9x and look down there. At first they were moving so slow and in some tall grass, due to shadowing at first I thought they were turkeys but then I saw them start running flat out and counted about 6 deer. They were so far away I couldn't even really make out their heads...they were so small in my scope I could probably fit the entire body of a deer in the thin portion of my duplex reticle. They were 700 yards away if they were an inch. I don't see how anyone could make a shot on anything smaller than 6 feet in diameter at 700 yards with only 9x.
