I've had my permit for two years in TX. I don't feel the need to carry everday since I live in a nice area with almost no crime. But I am thankfull for it when I make trips to less desireable areas (read houston, south dallas, etc).

Just 2 years.I left all of my firearms at my mother's and brother's when I moved to MA and didn't really miss them for over 5 years but decided I'd like to go shooting again on a whim and that I'd like me small collection back.I have to admit that I probably would not have got a CCW permit if it didn't require me in MA to apply for one to own the high cap pistols and rifles I already owned!

According to the date on my permit, 3 years in May. That's a rip-off since that's when I applied for it - they didn't get it to me until October, taking longer than the law allowed. Next one will be a 5-year since this was a non-resident permit.
