So I received my Utah CCW application back today saying this,
"With the passage of Utah State Law SB36, you must include a copy of your home state's concealed firearm permit (front and back). Residency is determined by what state your driver license or ID card is issued through"
After reading over the law and some research, it turns out that because VA is a state that recognizes the UT permit, Utah requires that you first have a VA conceal carry license before applying for theirs. Illinois doesn't recognize the UT permit, so SB36 does not apply. I'll just go tomorrow and change my drivers license back over to a IL license. Still kind of a pain because now it's probably going to be an additional 2-3 months now before I receive my ccw. :banghead:
I wasn't even aware of this law and I did my research on getting this license, and apparently neither did my instructor when I asked him if a VA license would be any problems. Anybody else get theirs sent back because of SB36??
