I own 2. A Ruger MkII and some cheap rifle that was given to me. I can't remember the make at the moment.

I was shooting almost a thousand rounds of .22 a week for a while during the summer.

Than life caught up with me. ;(

I love .22lr. Its a versatile useful caliber, and it shines in developing shooting skills. Its economical to shoot, It has no recoil so its easy to practice lots with it and develop the shooting fundamentals.

Its fun to shoot, and the perfect caliber for introducing new shooters.
I can never understand why folks who shoot dont own a .22lr it should be the first firearm they buy.

I only own one right now. It's a 1954 Marlin 39A. I spent some time getting it back in to good shape. It had not been fired much but it had been handled a good bit and was not well taken care of. It's my favorite caliber and firearm.

I plan to buy a Ruger MKII as soon as funds permit. I won't have a need to own anymore than that although I can appreciate those that do!

What can one hunt with a 22 lr? Regarding both - what animals will a 22lr reliabilably take down, and which of those species are legal to take?

Rabbit, squirrel, and similar size animals. Also, you can do away with small pest animals like armadillos.
