How many different powders do you keep?

Nowadays, just 3. Unique (for 9mm plated/lead and .45acp FMJ), TG (for 9mm FMJ) and BE (for .45acp lead/plated). But, once the 12# of TG is gone it might be gone for good. BE and Unique can meet all my needs and expectations.

Don't shoot as much as I did 25-30 years ago. I reloaded shotgun then too. I mostly shoot .45 and .223 these days. As for powders I still have:

HP-38, Bullseye and Clays for the .45.
BLC-2, Varget and CFE 223 for the .223. I'll use these with my .308 too.

I still have some Green Dot for loading 12 gauge and some Win 748 also for my .308. Of course, Clays is also a shotgun powder.

Hi All,

The answer is...11.

Rifle:
BL-C(2), good loads on my 30TC, 7mm-08, and 257 Roberts
H414, good loads on my 7mm-08, fair and still tweaking 257 Roberts
Hunter, good and still tweaking on 257 Roberts, just starting with 7mm-08
No luck so far with H4350, R19, IMR4064.

I see a trend here. I'm not having luck with the extruded powders and doing o.k. with ball. The BL-C(2) is so good in the 30TC I haven't bothered to try anything else. I'm hoping that Hunter can replicate or improve upon H414 so that I can settle on just the one powder for 7mm-08 and 257 Roberts. If that works out I'll just build decent loads with the extruded powders and not replace them when they run out...until I get tempted by R17 or IMR4831 or...

Pistol:
Bullseye, good with 380 auto, o.k with 9mm and 45 ACP
Power Pistol, good with 9mm, o.k. with 380 auto and 45 ACP
Titegroup, good with 9mm and 45 ACP, can't easily measure for 380 with my equipment.
AA#7, o.k. with 45 ACP, not so great with 9mm
Blue Dot - loaded some 45 ACP just to have high flash.

I'm less fussy with the pistol powders, probably because any accuracy problems caused by powder/primer/bullet are overwhelmed by problems caused by the shooter!

After looking at some of you and the powders you have I will admit I was successful in trimming my supply. I don't do as many cartridges as I used to but my list for everything I reload is thus.

Rifle
4350
Varget

Pistol
2400
Power Pistol

And I'm loading 12 different cartridges. I once counted 12 different powders that I had on hand.

I have three types I use all the time -

Bullseye (.45 ACP)
H110 (.44 Magnum)
Varget (.243 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield)

Then I have a jug of W231 that I was going to use for lighter loads in .44 Magnum, but I haven't done much with it yet.

At present I have seven types. I do load a variety of rifle and pistol cartridges. I have tried other powders over time, but out of these seven, I can load anything I have with a good load.
