I don't have anywhere near the arsenal of most of the folks here, but what I have is 50/50 right now. I have two foreign guns and two American made.
best is very subjective, i am just saying just because it was made here does not mean it's the best. i hate when people will hate a gun just because it's not made in the usa. the new winchester model 70s are a good example, they are as good or better then the pre64s
Gunny - curious about the New Zealand one? A Commonwealth pattern gun with New Zealand stamps? That's the only one on that list I can't think of a particular model.I have guns from a few different countries.
South Africa
Argentina
Austria
Australia
Belgium
Brazil
China
Columbia
Czech Republic
Czechoslovakia
England
Finland
France
Germany
Hungary
India
Italy
Japan
Mexico
New Zealand
Persia
Philippians
Poland
Romania
Russia
Spain
Sweden
Turkey
Yugoslavia
Lol.You guys telling the countries, are you only citing the country of origin?? Or are you counting countries where the weapon summered for a few years, then moved on to new owners???..
IE What do you call a Finn M39. Finnish or Russian?? And what if the Mosin was given to the Finns from the Germans because it was captured by the Austrians during WW I?? Is the Rifle then Russian-Austro-German-Finnish???
It’s a strange rifle. It’s a Savage built No4 Mk1,but it’s only marked No4 Mk , 1942.Gunny - curious about the New Zealand one? A Commonwealth pattern gun with New Zealand stamps? That's the only one on that list I can't think of a particular model.
DP does not stand for deactivated. Some were still used in training where live fire was done. Not all DPs are the same. The stripe painted on the stock is a clue. The DP explains it. That's no longer a rifle to be issued, it's merely a training device.
Thats pretty cool, I would count that as US.It’s a strange rifle. It’s a Savage built No4 Mk1,but it’s only marked No4 Mk , 1942.
The wrist socket was scrubbed and remarked. It’s a fully functional rifle. Here are some pics.
I also had to update my list to add Iraq.

Yep. But it is a rack rifle for training, not an issue rifle for an individual soldier or trainee. Thus it falls under a different accounting system, which requires a different set of markings..DP does not stand for deactivated. Some were still used in training where live fire was done.
