Many years ago when I got my first gun, I bought a little tiny safe that lasted me for about 10 years before I out grew it. So I learned about 5 years ago and decided to buy a much bigger safe than I thought I would ever need. Well, now I outgrew that one and I am contemplating yet another safe.

So instead of giving the old safe to a relative or selling it, I thought I would keep the medium sized one and get the largest sized gun safe I can find. At first I was going to give the old safe to a relative, but he was impatient and went ahead and bought a new one. Then I discovered that one of the doorways I was going to have to get the huge safe thru was too narrow. So I figured I would keep the old one and leave it where is sits and put the new one in my office.

So my question is, how many gun safes do you have and use? If you are a retail establishment, FFL, or dealer, please don't reply. Just looking for the average shooters/collectors.

strange that so many will show pictures of their safes & contents yet seem to not want to be saying how many they have.

not on your list is 'other'

a secure room would count as 1, yes?

I think everyone should buy one or more big enough to hold the weapons they have or expect to eventually have. How many other people have is of no interest to me. You may as well be asking us how many guns we have...which we all know is a sensitive question areound here.

I'd think people would gladly talk about safe types and what they like but focusing in on total capacity isn't likely to get much action.

I have one, and since buying it have over doubled my collection - making it a tedious task to get everything in at the same time. Once I get a house I'll buy another much larger safe, and use the current smaller one for an ammo locker...

On the left are my handguns, on the right are "hers". The middle is long guns. Ammo lockers on top.

None are what you would call "packed", it just works well for us. She can organize hers the way she likes, and I can organize mine. Putting the long guns in a seperate safe gives us more shelf room in the handgun safes. Each handgun safe also holds holsters, cases, mags etc.

The ammo lockers are also not exactly crammed. They also hold a few airsoft/pellet/bb guns, tools, flashlights, etc. I guess the several boxes of .22 might put me into the "scary" designation in the media, but I'm really small potatos. Counting the long guns, we're still under 20 total.

Multiple safes give us convenience and (I didn't mention above) security, since the three safes side-by-side take up the full width of the reinforced closet they are bolted into. So with the ammo lockers on top, it gets real difficult to get a good "grip" on them without some work.

And that's about as much detail as I feel like giving. :D

One- 2ft by 3 ft. Been getting rid of some of the stuff I don't shoot much, but for every one I sell, two magically reappear, it's the damndest thing...:scrutiny:

I have one, but have been informed by people whom I consider reliable that if you have only one gun safe you are not taking your hobby seriously and need to apply yourself.

I have three but two of them are pretty much crap. Very small, no fire safe. As I got older and was able to afford better I upgraded. Just kept the two small ones. I've always liked safes.

Two safes
One small fire safe for handguns
One stack-on "locker"
One wood & glass display case

So I voted two - guess I shoulda voted three.

I have just one, but it is getting crouded in there, one more rifle and i will need another. Or i may modify my shed to be a safe and relooading gun empourim.

I have 2 need a third when I had my retail store front I had 11 for storage. I always recommend everyone have atleast 1

I answered two.

I have a small single handgun safe near the bed and a lock box for the vehicle, and a gun locker (which is way overstuffed)

I used to have a semi-heavy large gun safe that was was bolted to a plywood wall. Unfortunately it wasn't well hidden. I came to the realization that although it would be hard to break in to it just screamed "look at me, I'm full of guns".

No, I'm not really hearing any strange voices.
