Does anyone know how many members TFL had before it closed? I see the THR has about 2500 but I was #15,000 and something so I assume it had close to 20,000.

It would be nice to see THR have 20,000 members by this time next year!

Almost 18,000

17-thousand something. It shows up in the upper-left corner of the page if you'd like to check.

~9,102 users had less than 5 posts.

(edited to correct the number)

The High Road has more than 2500 in about a week. I know a lot are TFL transferees, but it took a loong time for TFL to reach 2500.

I had 9 posts. Do I count as a lurker? I just couldn't seem to get to a thread in time to post a decent reply before somebody else got there first and said pretty much what I wanted to. I'm starting to have that problem on THR too. Must be a good sign. . . .

When TFL first got started, it was quiet and Rich would offer prizes for whoever started the thread that generated the most responses. Prizes were generally knives or flashlights.

THR got a "jump" start as TFLers scrambled over and in doing so, kept the family together.

I don't think you can put much trust in the number that shows up on your browser when you curser over PROFILE. I registered on TFL within a week or so after it opened. There are a lot of posters there who have lower TFL numbers, but registered a month or so after I did.

IIRC, a software upgrade on TFL (maybe one of the first) changed to order of those numbers. We even had a thread talking about it.

The internet is much bigger now then it was when Rich started TFL. It's only natural that things are going to grow faster now.

Jump right on in there and speak your piece. That is what this place is all about!

Thanks PATH! I guess I don't have as much time to spend online as others. I always feel like a Johnny-come-lately when I check up on a thread and find that fifteen or twenty others have beat me to the punch with what I would have said. I'll always jump in if I think I have something to add, but even in real life I'm not one of those that has a lot to say in big crowds.

The nice thing about TFL (and now THR) is that there are so many bright folks around that I enjoy reading. My goal is to get more posts here than I had on TFL (I've always believed in achivable goals). :p

Quality, not quantity.

Cordex, you know how many members had 0 posts? I trimmed away about 7000 on BladeForums.com not that long ago - that's a lot of empty, taking-up-space profiles...

TheHighRoad has a lot of great advantages - a ready built mature membership; experienced moderators; an inherited community, lessons learned, etc.

Now let's all cross our fingers and pray that the site does embody it's name. I'm confident it will.
