Curious how many people buy extra mags for their pistols.

Also, what do you consider a fair price to pay for an extra magazine. They vary wildly from $20 to $55 bucks.

I have ordered them.
But all mine have come with 2 or more.
I don't like to buy anything with one mag.
Since mags. do and WILL fail.....more often than other parts.
If I have just one, and it breaks.
I have a useless firearm.

IMO: Only a fool would not have more then one magazine for a gun.

Magazines are expendable parts.

And Mr. Murphy says that if you only have one, it will break the first time you use it, or you will loose it the second time.

The only gun I own that has less then three magazines is a Baby Browning .25 ACP.
And it has two.
And I never shoot it!

The guns I use have a minimum of four, and usually 10 or more.

why would someone need 10 mags?

Well one reason I can think of is the upcomming election. If they have another standard capacity magazine ban, then the 12 round mags for my Sig, and the 30 rounders for my AR might be a little hard to come by.

Another reason is, quite simply, they break. Springs wear out, feedlips crack. The magazine can make or break an automatic pistol (or any semi automatic firearm for that matter).

I've got 5 for my Sig, and 4 for my 1911. I'd really like more. I figure 20-30 bucks is a fair price to pay for a spare mag.

Couldn't vote, no option for more.

I have 20 or so mags for the 9mm Glock family which include a G17, G26, and a Sub 2000. (2) 10 rounders for the G26, (12) 17 rounders and (6) 30 rounders

About 10 or so 1911 mags(I only have 1 1911)

About 30 AR mags including a Beta mag.

But I only have the 2 that came with my 22/45. I need more.

With some guns I will even have the extra mags before I have the gun.

Me too. I have a seventeen and eighteen round MecGar mag for a Beretta 92 I do not own yet. Likewise I have a Glock 17, 19, 22, and 23 magazine. I have a 27 and a 9mm conversion barrel, but I will probably end up getting at least one of those guns later on.

That they most certainly do.

A fair price would be the going market rate. It's going to vary, depending on many factors.

why would someone need 10 mags?

My minimum is 4. Eight is where I'm comfortable. Ten would be great.

My goal is to have four mags for a gun from the start. I usually wait for the gun to prove itself before I go for more.

I did when I "dabbled" in Glocks. I have 1911 and Ruger MKII mags coming out my ears!

I also have spring kits as well.

I will add more, just in case.

Not only do I purchase extra mags, I buy as many spare parts that I can; especially if the model is discontinued.
I still have an extra 4 n.i.b. mags for my Browning BDM that I'll probably wind up someday selling in the Classified section..
I never learn.....:banghead:

I ordered 5 Wilson COmbat ETM mags same month I bought a
S&W 1911. I need to order a 3rd mag for my CZ 75B. When I
get another 1911 I'll get 1 more WC ETM and a couple of CMC
Power mags flush fitting for carry so each has one, and 3 WC ETMs

Then there's the 625 and umpteen full moon clips....

I have this many mags for my pistols...

Glock 26 - 3x10rnd, 1x17rnd, 1x33rnd
Glock 20 - 5x15rnd
Ruger MKIII - 3x10rnd
KelTec P32 - 2x7rnd, 1x10rnd

I like to have extras. Especially for the top 2 on the list.

why would someone need 10 mags?

Ten times the fun.

The poll wasn't complete. I try keep at least 10 full-capacity mags for every pistol I have. I learned that after the 1994 AWB.:fire:

I want at least two mags for every gun. If the gun only comes with one mag, then I'll buy more.

Good thing I did, the ACT mags that came with the
SW1911 consistently will not feed the
last round in a mag. - weak spring and idiotic follower. imo.

Extra Mags

I keep 4 mags. Two loaded and the other two resting - change them out the 1st of the month. That way the springs are not fully compressed all the time. Just a personal thing!!!
