I know people have written about how many magazines for your rifle/pistol you should have. What about stripper clips? I know the obvious answer would be the number needed to hold the same number of rounds as the number of magazines. Does anyone actually have 30-50 stripper clips for their SKS/Mosin/Mauser/etc?

I have fifty for my Lee Enfield - which I carry in -> marked bandoliers.

I find Mosin stripper clips a lot harder to come by. I have about twenty at the moment. When I see more I'll get them up to about fifty,

I have 20 -30 for an SKS. They are so cheap I can's see why not to have a few extra. If I shot more at a time I would have more.

I have a dozen or so for my Springfield and Mauser rifles. I keep an eye out for sales on them.

I keep about 100 rounds on strippers for a Mosin at any given time.

I'll reload them watching TV so when range time comes around I'm not fiddling around with loose rounds as I typically shoot about 100/session.

I have ~200 stripper clips for my M1A, all filled (5 rounds each, so ~1000rds in strippers total). This is on top of ten fully loaded 20rd magazines. The clips are (mostly) in nylon bandoliers.

A friend of mine has like 500 for his Mosin, but that is because he ordered them in bulk and picked out the good ones.

I have 310 rounds of x39 on clips for my SKS. I have 9 rounds in the rifle and 30 loose rounds. Still need to get a chest rig.

How many is enough? For my 1903 Springfield 4 is enough.

But I only shoot mine competitively and use them to reload in the rapid fire strings.

I love stripper clips, especially for storing loose ammo:)
I easily have 50- 75 5.56mm strippers for my AR. I only have a half dozon for my Mosin. I have about 20 strippers for my Lee Enfields and I intend on buying more.

I don't even know how many SKS strippers I have. They're in a bag with cosmoline. I do know how many 7.62x39 rounds I currently own. Zero.

I have some 5.56 in strippers, but they came that way.

Depends on the rifle. For some of the vintage military bolt rifles, a few if any except for the Mosins, for which I have and make many. For Garand? Scores. For SKS/AK? Tons. No idea, really. Maybe a hundred. They're semi-disposable. For AR? A handful, but not enough. Got the gun just before the Banic -- but not enough ammo for it.

As to the fellow looking for Mosin strippers, you can make them on a workbench from some metal stock -- almost anything will do.

Our surplus Czech 7.62 x 39 comes in stripper clips.

So right now, I have about 140 clips, filled with rounds and a few loose clips from a shooting buddy.

I vote: You need enough to hold the ammunition you currently have.

Problem what that approach is, if we're talking about Mosin strippers, each one is about $1, the same price as the ammo it holds. No thanks, I'd rather spend some of that on more ammo and have fewer clips.

Yes. I bought a huge quantity of MN strippers when they were less than $.10/ea. I have 30 ammo pouches loaded - that's 180 clips, each with five rounds on them. :D
