How much damage can be done with executive orders?

Well Trump free of elections and a Republican senate can push as fast as possible court appointments and hand out pardons, My guess is if Biden gets in and its looking like it will be the case, Ammo and guns I bet will be pressed hard for the next several years.

The previous occupant of the white house, all by himself with pen and paper, created the "dream act" thereby legalizing illegal aliens in the US. Congress had absolutely no vote on the subject.

The current President had to go to court to "UNDO" this illegal edict. Last time I looked it is still in the courts. Permanent damage by decree.

Vito power I think rests with all three??
No.
Short version follows:
Only the Executive Branch has veto power and only over a law passed by the Legislative Branch. The Legislative Branch can override an executive veto with a super-majority vote. Since an executive order implements a law already passed and signed into law, the Congress cannot nullify an executive order. Only the Judicial Branch can nullify both a law passed and signed into law, and only the judicial can nullify an executive order, and in both cases only if legal action is brought through the appropriate judicial processes to address the issues.

Such is the beauty of checks and balances.

Getting in the weeds here a little bit but it's tied to executive order powers. Obama did not use EO for the Dream Act (I believe you are getting it mixed up with DACA, which he did EO). The Democrats have been trying to get the Dream Act pushed through for nearly 20 years.

If I recall correctly the Obama administration after the Dream Act failed to get enough votes to see a floor vote in the Senate during his tenure as president put out a memo to ICE and border patrol on how to interact with illegal immigrants. I didn't like him as much as the next guy, but we got to get the facts right.

But yes, in regards to DACA that was a pretty broad EO that Obama pushed and Trump fought against. And DACA would be the example that adds to the conversation of EO latitude this thread is about and keeps the subject in line with the focus of this forum without getting off topic.

Relax. Gun control is off the table at least until after the next Senate elections. Biden is unlikely to spend his meager political capital on this.

What this means is that panic gun buying will subside. If you can get a good price, sell now and plan on buying back cheaper later.

A few here seem to be very proud of the judges appointed, be careful of what you wish for.

Personally, I don't don't want any judges that are in lockstep with any particular president. I would prefer a judiciary that does the right things for the right reasons, not unthinkingly following a president's agenda, regardless of which direction they prefer.
