I have had a number of people display surprise when I told them how much it cost me to get into concealed carry. Assuming you had nothing how much would you have to spend to get your CHL, a pistol and some training? For me it was like this:

Glock 19 $507.69
2 extra mags $ 40.00
CHL application $140.00
CHL class $125.00
Hoslter $ 30.00
Pistol Class $ 500.00
Ammunition $ 180.00 (1500 rounds required for class)

Total $1522.69 give or take :eek:

WHOA??? 1500 rounds for your conceal and carry class??? That doesn't seem right at all ..

Wow. It cost me about 60 bucks. I don't count the gun into it... I consider that the cost of shooting or gun ownership. The cost of carrying I'd consider to be just the added cost to doing what's needed be able to carry said gun.

Application fee combined with a background check was 60.
Already had the gun and ammo and holster. No class requirement. Took 1 month.

sig p226 .40sw $600
chl class $130
application fee $140
50 rounds $13
Mexican carry = $0

total $883

i got it easy. :what: :eek: ;) :neener:

S&W 38 and 50 rounds $325
Uncle Mikes pocket holster $10
Application fee $117

Knowing I'm pi$$ing off liberals just by my existence.....

PRICELESS!

My costs:

CCW permit, including application fee, fingerprint fee, etc. was about $130 IIRC. It's been a while.

Fuel wasted driving from local police to county sheriff to downtown Detroit (and back several times) because of misinformation=$40

Class=$150
200 rds of ammo for class=$18
Kel-tec P11=$260
Uncle Mike's holster=$13

Total:$611

WHOA??? 1500 rounds for your conceal and carry class??? That doesn't seem right at all ..

Yep, it was for Tom Givens' Combative Pistol course, at Tac Pro.

Wouldn't the pistol class be optional?

Strictly speaking, yes. My personal opinion is that if you are serious about concealed carry, and have not had any formal training (I did not), it should be included.

Chl class 100.00 +5.86 for 50rds for the range time.
Chl appl. 70.oo [over 65]
IWB holster 50.00
Extra mag holder 15.00
TTL 225.86

Lots of range time $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:D

Walk-in vault and house, with range and property to put it on = $90,000.00
Years of practice ammo to get good with a gun = $20,000.00
Guns in walk-in vault - $50,000.00
CHL class = $125.00
All other training classes ever taken = $5500.00
CHL app, photos, fingerprints, and background check - $150.00
Ammo for class = $20.00
Holster - Galco Jak-Slide = Free
Fuel to drive to class = $3.00
Fuel to drive to town for amunition - $5.00
Fuel to go everywhere I went to shoot any time I ever went = $60,000.00
Food for the last 37 years so I could live to be able to carry = WHO KNOWS!
Etc... etc... etc...

Sorry, can you REALLY count the cost of your Glock, or even the holster in this, or did you buy them SPICIFICALLY for carry use only?

the $500 class you took, that WASN'T a requirement for CCW, was it, so it doesn't cvount either...

Nevermind about what it could cost if you have to use it :eek:

Of course in that case it could cost far, far more if you didn't.

IIRC, my class was $45 and the permit was $65/4 years.

I don't count the cost of the gun and ammo cause I'd have it anyway.

I agree with Ifishsum. The gun should not be counted. Cause I would have it anyway and how could you carry a gun if you do not have one?

The holster is the same.

Ammo could be counted in the cost if it is a requirement for the class. However if it is your own pracitce ammo it should not be counted.

To obtain Alabama concealed pistol permit:

1 sheet hp copy paper: $.00003
Ink from bic ballpoint: $.0004
Pistol permit fee Calhoun County Sherriff's office: $10

total to 3 sig. digits: $10.00

Equipment:
1 kimber tactical custom II=$870
4 wilson combat 47D mags=$120
1 used rafter S iwb holster=$40
1500 rds. pracice ammo=$400

total: $1430 +/-

Hmmmm

Glock 27 = $470
2 Glock mag extensions = $26
Lasermax internal unit = $300
Tru-Glo TFO sight = $100
50 rounds Speer GD = $20
Galco Combat-Master = $55
Bianchi mag pouch = $28
Application fee = ~ $160 (I think with the electronic fingerprints)
Course = $121 (individual session)

So that's what? $1280 ?

Then if you want to count the Surefire L4 and Benchmade Griptillian - you can ... that's another $215

I'm probably missing some stuff - but yeah, it's not cheap. I'm counting the gun because without the CCW, I'd have no 27. The 23 and/or 22 would suffice.

In Puerto Rico...

GLOCK=$675
1 SPARE MAG=$40
1 BOX AMMO=$25
STAMP FEES= $125
WEAPON HANDLING CLASS=$60
LAWYER FEES= $1200
MEDICAL CERTIFICATE $20
MEMBERSHIP TO GUN CLUB (NON OPTIONAL MUST HAVE)=$75
TOTAL $2220

AND YOU STILL NEED TO STAND IN FRONT OF JUDGE AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU NEED A GUN...AND LICENSE TAKES 3 MONTHS TO PROCESS

Already had lot's of guns-Cost $0 (well...not really...they're like peanuts...can't "eat" just one)
CCW license including background,fingerprints, etc. $30?? first time 10 years ago..maybe it's $60 now for a few years. (Washington State)
Ammo...depends on how much you practice.
Holster....I just now spent less than $50 on two pocket holsters for my S&W 642

Class?????....sheesh...that reminds me...I better pay $$$ and sign up for my 1st Ammendment class!!!!!!! if I want to express my opinion.....

No class here in the soviet socialist republic of Washington state. At least they got ONE friggen thing right......:evil:

1 holster what about the other 15 in the box in the closet?????????

DINGDINGDINGDING!!!!

Karh = $500
P-3at = $200
Holsters= $75 (3. 1 Pocket / 2 IWB)
Class= $125
CHL= $140
Defense ammo = $140 / yr
Practice ammo = no flippin’ clue. Let’s say $250/yr
4 extra mags (2 for each) = $80
Pinky extensions = $30

$1540!

This thread is depressing!

I included the guns because I needed a CCW (2 it turns out).

I hope this year it will be cheaper.

WOW! Although Alabama is slightly above average in gun friendliness, this makes me appreciate how the State lets the counties issue permits. It's a big $$$ saver. I figure my $10 just about covered the Sherriff's overhead while processing my permit.

If it makes you feel better I travel A LOT and I have to keep 7 permits active :barf: You know how hard it is to find your drivers license when you have 7 other photo ID's in the same wallet!? :banghead:

Deuce, not that it really matters, but that was 4 significant figures. But I hate chem math.
