How much powder for roundball deer?

I got my hands on some olde eynesford 1.5f and tried it with this rifle. 90 grains was extremely accurate and surprisingly clean. Haven't decided which gun to hunt with, but if it is this one I will use this load. For punching paper, I have no reason to stray from 70 grains

What size ball, and how thick a patch are you using?

.490 ball, .015 greased patch. I am not real interested in having to use a mallet to start a ball or get it down the barrel, so while I have tried a thicker patch I avoid them for ease of loading. Among other things, I may be using a front stuffer for a bear hunt this fall, so a fairly quick reload will be important.

Try some .495s with High quality Irish linen. .011 if you can find it. Good tight cross weave. Bigger balls with thinner patches usually shoot better. Some guns like 2F some like 3. 3f shoots cleaner.
Then there are brands...they are all different. And patch lube, everyone has there favorite.
