How much total ammo do you daily carry?

I typically carry a reload, if for nothing else it’s comforting knowing I have a spare of the most commonly known cause of malfunctions, magazines. Round count isn’t as much of a concern, it can be my CZ pcr with a 14 round mag in the gun and one in my pocket or my xds 45 with a 5 round mag in the gun and a 6 round mag in my pocket. Just like having one reload

Sadly, members are naming their handguns, but not specifying their capacities.

My Micro Desert Eagle is almost always in my pocket.
6 plus 1. And two magazines in the opposite pocket equaling 19 rounds.

Colt Python for another example in a shoulder holster, six rounds and 2 speed loaders on the opposite side of the revolver. 18 rounds.

Mag in the EDC plus a spare in the pocket.

Might be 8, 10, 12 or 15 in the mags, depending on what I’m carrying.

Mostly these days it’s 12+1 in the 365 and 15 in the pocket.

Main carry, on the pavement, is my Sig P365. The original version (no safety) with ten round mag. No reload is carried. When on my mower, I have 3 acres, I usually carry a J frame.
Yep, Same for me and for both gun choices..Rod

I carry 14 rounds minimum on me. That's a 1911 with 7 round magazines. There's more mags in my vehicle.

If I'm carrying a different firearm, it's still two magazines. All my other autoloaders have larger capacity magazines. So, as many as 30 rounds on my person.

Rarely do I carry one of my revolvers, but if I do I carry two speed loaders. That is 18 or 21 rounds on my person.

A Glock 26 in the waist with 15 round mag plus a 15 and 17 round mags carried in pockets. Also, a J Frame with a speed strip in a pocket.

My SIG P365X has 12+1 rounds to start with and two spare 12 round mags, making it 37 rounds ready to go.

With my Glocks, G43X and G48, each gun would have 10+1 on board along with two spares, with 10 rounds each for a total of 31 rounds.

Average round count then would be 34 rounds for my EDC.

I seem to only carry single stacks, and I always carry a spare mag in case of malfunctions or just in case I need a reload, so typically 16 to 19 rounds, depending on which pistol & mags I’m carrying.

I should add that before we had all of these really tiny 9mm.s, I use to carry a S&W J frame .38 Special snub-nosed revolver with 5 rounds on tap in the cylinder and 10 rounds on two Bianchi Speed Strips for 15 rounds altogether.

That's very much like the same number of rounds that are in some micro 9mm.'s magazines these days!

Where I live is pretty rural and more than likely to pass a tractor than a car. Right now in my G43 I’m running 6+1 with a spare mag that holds 7. 14 total for me and so far it’s working. If I go to bigger cities it’s usually my full size 9 with 15+1 and a 17 round spare mag.

Anyone done the math yet?

What's the average number of rounds carried?

Through post #87 the average is 23 rounds.
If someone posted two numbers like sometimes this other times this, I used the higher number. (My prerogative since I did the math)

I usually have at least one spare mag if my primary has 10=>. If <10rds then I have 2 spare mags. I seldom cary a revolver as Edc in public, but if I do , usually have two speed loaders plus some spare rds in a pouch or pocket.

On duty, not much choice. I carry the issue GLOCK + 2 spare magazines. It is a requirement. Off duty, whether I am carrying the GLOCK or my own gun, I carry a single spare magazine because you never know what will go wrong when you need a gun, only that you are probably already at a disadvantage, if you need to defend yourself with lethal force.

If I was going somewhere, in a situation where I thought there was a real chance of trouble, I would bring a bigger gun and a lot of ammo and probably a pistol as well.

That makes sense, I've seen alot of police body/dash cams where the officer engaged in gunfire used both spare reloads. Alot of times it looks like the first magazine gets sprayed wildly in an adrenaline fueled volley of suppressive fire until cover is found and then more well calculated and aimed shots can be taken.

I wouldn't expect as a civilian you would need the same load out as a police officer conducting a high risk traffic stop with a suspected armed felon, but I still have a couple spares just in case....

10+1 in the LCP Max.
If traveling, an extra 12 round mag for it.
(Plus this .357 SP101 with 2 speed loaders in the leather belly bag which is carried slung from my shoulder)

31 rounds, 10 in 2 spare mags, 10+1 loaded. State limit is 10 round mags.

S&W 9mm Shield (not Shield Plus) have an 8 round magazine option, so 8 + 1 = 9.
Also the Sig P239 is 8+1.

So I guess that's my answer. Either 5, 6, or 9 depending on the gun. And I can count on one hand how may times in my life I have carried a spare magazine.
