How much total ammo do you daily carry?

Massad Ayoob, who's done a ton of research into defensive gun use and LE shootings over the past 40 years or so had made a good point.

In a recent issue of American Handgunner, he notes that he's "debriefed men who carried .380 autos, .32s and .38 snubs who told him they didn't take action when they should have because when the life-or-death moment came, they didn't think they had enough firepower to win the gunfight, and they regretted their hesitation forever after."

Now, I'm not sure how many folks here are familiar with Mas, or know how many folks, citizens and LE, he's interviewed about their gunfights, but it's literally in the hundreds.

Wonder what the situation was? They were alive to be interviewed? Must not have been to defend themselves, or they survived the encounter. Don't get me wrong here, I like Mas.

When I carry single-stack (Dan Wesson Vigil Government in 9mm), I carry a flush nine-round magazine and two ten-round spare magazines. When I carry double-stack (Langdon Tactical Beretta 92G Compact), I carry the standard 15-round magazine and one spare fifteen-round magazine.

When I carry a revolver I carry a NY reload (a 2nd revolver) so 10 to 12 depending on which revolvers. Though, I keep a lot in my pants pockets so that depends on it being jacket or coat weather so I can have my jacket/coat pockets either for the gun or for the stuff usually in my pants pockets so that is over other than a day here and there until late Oct.

When carrying an auto I usually don't carry an extra mag (though I'd like to). I haven't yet found a mag holster I like and it is too hard to get to in my pockets so it is rare that I carry one (occasionally a mag gets dropped into a pocket).

So, when carrying an auto, depending on which one and which mag I go for, 16 (15+1 in my PCR or G19), most commonly 13 (12+1 in the P365 mags I most carry) or 11 (10+1 when I go for the smaller P365 mags).

M&P Shield 8rd mag, one in the pipe and an extra 7rd mag. 1911, 8rd mag, one in the pipe and two additional 8rd mags. Love the 1911 but it pulls my pants down.

I'm just curious to see what the "average" gun owner carries on a daily basis. Or what the options are. Do you carry extra magazines on days you carry guns with less capacity? Does power factor into the equation (i.e. you're fine with ten rounds of 9mm or six of .357)? Or does it scale up as you can carry more, i.e. a revolver by itself, a compact with 1 mag, or a full-size handgun with two magazines?

Personally, I haven't carried in quite some time (for a few specific reasons). When I did, my philosophy changed over time. At first, it was that I wanted to carry as much quantity as I could. Then, it was to carry one spare reload for whatever I had. Finally, I wanted to have at least 12 rounds, which meant I carried a spare for my LCP or two speed strips for my LCR, but most other handguns I was fine with what was on them.

Now, I would probably just carry the gun, whatever gun that was. Maybe a spare magazine or a single reload. I figure there's a low chance I get to reload in a dangerous situation.
If I'm caught in a jam and need more than 9 rounds of 45 Auto 230gr +p HST Federal ammo, then WW3 must have just kicked off and I need to just get as far away from that area and try to get home where dad and I have all kinds of stuff. So unless Russian and/or Chinese Paratroopers are landing in OKC, I think I'll be ok.
