Not as much as I should be I guess. Last time we left the house for a road trip my wife made me go back in and get some extras and I already had two.

Funny, I was thinking about how others outside of the firearms community perceive us. I imagine that many would consider any one of us that owns maybe two firearms with 5 or 6 magazines and 500 rounds of ammo obsessed with firearms. And then I read this...

I am going to put on my skeptical curmudgeon hat and ask why the OP asks this.

OP comes along recently, few posts, no profile, no information on himself. Not saying the OP is a troll post, or implying he has ill intent, but ... So he admits to playing video games. Not exactly an "obsession" about guns, perhaps one about video games. Movies? So what. Everyone watches movies.

Sorry, I'm suspicious. We've been down this road before when forums are infiltrated by new people asking seemingly innocuous questions, but ...

If one wanted to collect data about "gun nuts," "gun fanatics," "gun law extremists ...." One might come along and troll firearms forums in such an innocent fashion.

Let's look at some of the most common definitions of the word "obsession." There are actually some psychiatric associations with the word "obsessed" and "obsession."

noun

-a focus on one thing with little interest in anything else

- the fact or state of being obsessed with an idea, desire, emotion, etc.

-such a persistent idea, desire, emotion, etc., esp. one that cannot be gotten rid of by reasoning

-If you have an obsession, you're totally fixated on something and unhealthily devoted to it.

-someone or something that is so important to you that you are always thinking about them, in a way that seems extreme to other people

- persistent idea or impulse that continually forces its way into consciousness, often associated with anxiety and mental illness

- persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling

- A pattern of unwanted or intrusive thoughts or urges that recur persistently, often accompanied by symptoms of anxiety.

- A compulsive, often unreasonable idea or emotion

I might have had an obsession about my wife (before we were married) but I'm over that now. I have zero obsessions. I have numerous very healthy hobbies and interests, however, firearms and shooting being only a couple, and they do not occupy all my time (or all of my thoughts) to an excessive degree. I also have a job in which firearms and shooting occupy much (sometimes most) of my work time, but it's just a job.

Y'all can answer however you want. I'm paid to be suspicious.

Not obsessed, was raised around guns and hunting. Now I enjoy unloading them and then reloading them about equal. So hunting, plinking, target shooting. What sketter skelton called woods loafing, up in the woods hiking around with a pistol, last fall I would go to my makeshift range, working up some loads. Then head out in the woods, maybe get a couple grouse, pick a quart or two of huckleberriies. Or sometimes take the wife and head up the woods with some 22lr pistols and go through a brick. Just something to do to get away from the daily grind.

Friends!!

This isn't funny anymore:feet::D. Either enter treatment (AA:p) , or see your fate.

Do you want to be the one being gawked at , grabbing the guy behind the gun counter's arm, pleading?

''Jim, you...y....yu....ya got one more box of 9mm? Can you spot me Jim? Put it on my tab?''

Closing hours, still outside the XYZ shop.....

DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF!! Have some decency!:D
