How rare is the FNC1 para?

I received an email from someone looking for an FNC1 Para model. The only FNC I've ever seen at all was the one that Al Pacino's character in "Heat" used during the bank holdup scenes.

Are they that rare? Does anyone know of a source for them?

I thought Al was using a SIG 550, and Tom Sizemore was using the FN.

No, Pacino was using an FNC. Here's a link to photos of a para model.

No more can be imported because of their 'non-sporting'ness. If you get one it will have to be pre-owned. Currently they are in high demand because of registered FNC sears. Every now and then you see a semi-auto FNC for sale, but more and more of them are being converted to select-fire. I think there are more sears in the country than rifles, so the price will be outrageous. Around $2500-2900 for the para versions.

I'd check www.sturmgewehr.com www.fnctalk.com www.subguns.com www.gunbroker.com and www.gunsamerica.com for a used FNC.

I see one on Guns America for $2600.

The shop I worked in 25 years ago had serial number 001 and 003, as I recall, BNIB with all the factory accessories. Might have been 002 and 004, either way they were under 005. They were sold by silent auction for over 3 grand Cdn. Haven't a clue what they're worth now. I suspect you'd be looking at very long dollars though.

I think there are more sears in the country than rifles, so the price will be outrageous.

If demand got high enough someone could always import some "samples" and sell them as SBRs, right?

Laughing and crying here. In 1988 I swapped my FNC folding stock model for an early Steyr AUG-SA. Still have the AUG, wish I still had the FNC too.

Don't AUGs sell for more than FNCs though? I think you still came out ahead on that trade.

I remember seeing ads for FNCs for $1200 before all those sears hit the market.
