What is the general opinion of the new aluminum Para lowers vs an all steel original Para lower? The American made alloy lowers made by both DSA and Falcon count as one compliance part. DSA states their lowers are 7075-t6 where as Falcon simply states: T6. After an email to Falcon, they replied their receivers are 7075-t6 also. As most of you should know, T6 is a heat treat designation, not an alloy. 7075 is the alloy of aluminum.

On another note, some of the billet AR receivers are advertised as 6061-t6 "aircraft aluminum". Although this may or may not be good enough for an AR, I would prefer my AR parts be made out of the same alloy as Colt or most of the aftermarket manufacturers, which is 7075-t6. Contrary to popular belief, 6061-t6 is NOT an aircraft aluminum. But, 6061-t6 is widely use in the ultralight and experimental aircraft market, but not in certified aircraft unless your talking about pilot and/or passenger seat frames and other non structural parts. Most aircraft parts are made from 2024-t3 or t4 and 7075-t6. I know there are other aluminums, but these 2 are the most widely used.

Thanks for your opinions, Bart
