Saw this in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Don't know if this should go in S&T or General Discussions:

Golfers robbed on the 16th tee
An armed robbery on the golf course at Brynwood Country Club Saturday morning startled a foursome and their caddies, but could not keep the club's golfers from their game.

When the party of six, four golfers and two caddies, reached the 16th tee shortly after 11 a.m. a lone gunman emerged from nearby woods and said, "Give me your money," according to police.

Armed with a handgun and covering his face with a mask, the gunman robbed two of the golfers and one of the caddies before fleeing into the woods at the club, located at 6200 W. Good Hope Road.

Officials at the club said the foursome finished their round of golf following the incident. And no one at the club cancelled tee times either yesterday or today.

The club did send a statement about the robbery to its members saying no one was harmed. The club's management and members are working closely with the Milwaukee Police Department to identify and apprehend the suspect.

"We are disturbed by the situation that has unfolded today, but relieved that no one was injured," read the notice to club members on Saturday. "The incident was an unusual occurrence at our club. Brynwood Country Club has a nearly 80-year history as one of the most prestigious country clubs in the Midwest."

The note went on to say that, "beginning with the first tee time (Sunday), we will have a security detail on the course to discourage anyone to enter the course. As an additional safety measure, we would request that all golfers carry their cell phones on the course and immediately report any suspicious activity to the receptionist."

I don't know of any on-body carry that would work with a typical golf swing, but you folks might have better ideas. When I'm on the course, I usually put my valuables in a pouch in my golf bag. I'm wondering if that might be the place for a pistol.

Thoughts and ideas from THR golfers?

The gentleman that introduced me to gun ownership once mentioned that his father kept a pistol in his golf bag. He lived in Florida, so 'gators were the major concern.

wow. that sucks. the golf course is one of two places i choose not to carry because it interferes with the activity. the other is the gym. maybe i'll throw the carry gun in the bag from now on. bummer. i rather enjoyed the feeling out on the course of not having to be in condition yellow all the time. :scrutiny:

In Milkwaukee? A "hawgleg" strapped to your hip. That's the only way to carry legally in Wisconsin (and even encouraged by Gov. Doyle, although he was probably being sarcastic.)

The down side is the cops don't know it's legal and will probably arrest you, or maybe they'll just shoot you. HTH :)

throw a 12ga under the seat, the seats are hinged and lift from the back. just make sure it doesn't touch the leads on the batteries. and don't forget it, otherwise the cart guy will in for a surprise when he goes to charge it. on your body would be your best bet, you can get kinda far from the cart on tee's and greens especially greens, and you are probably more likely to get robbed at a tee since there sometimes very close to woods

From that story I'd choose to carry at low ready or relax my M4 slung african. Forgive me, I've always thought a golf course was a waste of a perfectly good rifle range:neener:
