I just purchased a cartridge conversion cylinder for my Pietta Navy in 44 caliber. As the description stated, some minor fitting may be required, as is the case for me. With the conversion cylinder installed, the hammer does not have enough room to reset once seated on the firing pin. My question: What is the process for correcting and properly fitting the cylinder? I assume the way to fix this is by taking material off the front of the cylinder and then blueing the exposed metal, but of course I am by no means a gun smith and I’m not sure what to do. Thanks in advance!

Only fitted for one cylinder. Not a conversion. But, if the cylinder fits and functions I would not take any material off it. Sounds to me it's hammer throw distance issue.

On Taylor’s website the description for the cylinder states:
“No frame modification is needed, although minor fitting may be required due to gun manufacturer variations...”

The Conversion cylinder was made for my gun. The hammer throw distance is not the issue, because as skeeterfogger wrote, the gun was fitted for the original cylinder. There is no issue when fired with the stock cylinder. I know that some fitting is required for the conversion. I’m just curious how to do this.

i have 3 conversions for uberti colts and they all dropped in and worked from the start. glad you got yours fixed. have fun with it.
