does anyone know how to fix the rediculously hard slide release on the M&P, especially when used by lefties?

Send it to Smith for a replacement release or sling shot the slide and don't use the release at all.

It should loosen up with repeated uses. I normally don't use the lever, as I prefer the slingshot method. If something is out of spec with the lever, SW will take good care of you. I've seen several that required "normal" pressure on the lever. A few others were very tight, but became easier as life went on.

I'd designed to be slingshot (slingshotted?), not used as a slide release. One alternative is to purchse and install the extended slide release.

Lifetime Warranty.
Send it back to S&W, I know that sucks but the pistols are still brand new on the market and still have some beginning production teething troubles.
Send it back.
S&W will repair the pistol and the insight they gain from doing so may allow them to make corrections to production methods that insure the problem does not occur with future production shipments.

There is nothing wrong with it. You can, as has been said, have them replace it with the newer slide release, but the original one was meant to be a slide lock and you load by sling shotting or slamming the mag so the slide shuts from the force. Yup, that's what I said. :D

Ya know, we train to fire with only the weak hand in case we are disabled in our dominant hand. So how do you sling-shot release the slide with one hand?:scrutiny:

still observing the 3 rules:

W/ trigger finger indexed alongside the frame, hook the rear sight on your belt, and push down, pull the gun out, away from your body so that the slide will launch forward once the rear sight is no longer held.

I got the extended slide stop installed by S&W. I HIGHLY recommend it. Unless something has changed, they will take it back and swap the parts on their dime.
