How to free a stuck screw?

Get a drill bit and an easy out

I have never found an easy out that will get out a screw that a screw driver won't if the screw head is still intact .
The bite the easy out can develop in the shank of a screw has to be less than the torque one can apply to a screw head. Personally I prefer drilling out the screw head with a left handed drill bit . If it is a normal screw with right handed threads.
That way the drilling action won't increase the torque on the threads as the drill turns. Most times the screw just unscrews as you drill.

I Agree with XCGATES, I found all of those tricks to work when I had stuborn fasteners on Aircraft. I also found that a little Profainity to Help! :cuss:

Language usually helps, but I'm pretty sure it just keeps the neighbors away, and only calms my head. Like just a few hours ago I took out a large-ish c-clip that was retaining a spacer-thingy in my old motorcycle, only to have it go flying across the driveway into the grass. Spent 30 minutes looking for it, and gave up for the night.

Such things are what I like to call "Jesus-Parts", because of what I tend to let loose with as they fly, bounce, or break.:banghead:

But back to the OP, has it been removed yet?

Take it from a retired Aircraft Mechanic, no profanity is necessary at all...........it's all a matter of sticking your tung out at just the right angle. :p :D

April 2007 issue of Machinist Morkshop Magazine. They arranged a subjective test of all of the popular penetrants with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a scientifically rusted environment. (lower number is better)

Penetrant: Average Load:
none 516 ft lbs
WD40 238
PB Blaster 214
Liquid Wrench 127
Kano Kroil 106
ATF-Acetone mix 53

50:50 and put it in a spray can or something. acetone evaporates and seperates from the ATF, but its AWESOME

Forgot to ask about the brand as well as the type of ATF

Does it matter what type of ATF fluid (Dextron, Dextron II, etc.) and is any brand better than another?

^I've never use the mix, however I can't think of anyone ever mentioning a specific type... so my non-scientific WAS would be that it doesn't matter.
