Stuck screw
I was trying to adjust my Remington 700s trigger, and I cant get the sear adjustment screw to break free. The trigger pull and overtravel screws came out just fine, but I can't get the third one to loosen up. I tried a bit of heat from a butane lighter, brute force from a screw driver and pliers, and a little bit of Liquid Wrench. Nothing has worked yet. I scraped all the loctite that was on the threads off prior to trying everything above and it just won't budge. I am being super careful not to strip the screw, so I was wondering if you guys have any ideas as to how I can get this screw loose. In the event I can't get it to break free, do I need to adjust the sear adjustment of can I just use the trigger pull and over travel screws to get a lighter trigger pull than the 5+ pounds it already was?

Kroil has never let me down. Patience is the key here. Soak well with Kroil twice a day for two days. Then heat the area with a hair dryer or touch the screw head with a soldering iron. Use good quality smithing screw driver that fits precisely. Turn as to tighten ever so slightly before turning to loosen.

If it still has some Loc-Tite (what color by the way) try a bit of acetone then the kroil.

Were it in my hands I'd go brake cleaner, acetone, kroil with the first two well evaporated before going to the next.

I agree it still has lock-tight deep in the threads.

Use a soldering iron tip on it till the thread locker "smokes" and it will turn.

You can't get it hot enough with a butane lighter or a hair dryer.

Acetone does a good job on the thread sealer used by Remington. ( I don't think they use a loctite product , more like a gliptal ? sealant)

Keep dipping a Q-Tip in acetone and applying it to the screw . Other suggestions may well work just as well, but this has always worked for me.
