I bought surplus K31 with Walnut. Yesterday took bolt out, cleaned very well all parts, cleaned barrel.

There was cosmoline(or grease?) on barrel and bolt. I know how to deal with barrel, it's clean now. But what do I do with bolt? Should I lubricate it somehow? How much? Regular oil or I need to use some kind of grease?

Thank you!

Pull the bolt apart and clean the firing pin (and firing pin channel). After that,
simply wipe all the metal down with BreakFree or any good CLP product.
Don't 'grease' anything. The thin film left from the wipe down will do
everything you need.

If you can't get the bolt apart for any reason, stick it in the oven on LOW
(170° or whatever the lowest setting is), and get it warm. Then use
brake cleaner into every crack/crevice/hole/channel you can get the little
hi-pressure spray tube into and blow everything out -- big time.

"Whip-Sling" the bolt at the end of your arm to sling all the brake cleaner out
(along with all the crud that might be inside it). Then use WD-40 to spray-lube
all up inside it again -- and whip sling all that out too.

You should be good-to-go at that point

I use grease , Lubri-Plate lithium, on all sliding parts, and oil for any pivoting parts on an axle.

The grease is used sparingly, applied with a small artists paint brush and then burnished with a finger, or if the finger is too large I use a pipe cleaner to remove any excess.

The sear, trigger, bolt lugs, raceways, where they cam into the barrel ( if the K31 has them) , any parts that slide or cam against another surface, especially if under pressure.

The tube of Lubri-Plate I have I bought in 1980 it's still about 3/4 th's full, so when I say sparingly you have an idea.
