Just got my Supertuck IWB holster and now I am wondering where I can put my extra magazine since it's always a good idea to have one in the gun and extra in case of malfunction.

What do you guys/gals do? How and where do you carry the extra magazine while still maintaining it concealed?

I carry it at 4 o'clock on my left hip. My supertuck goes on my right hip around 3 o'clock.

5.11 pants are nice because they have a magazine pocket on the front left leg. However, if your magazine is short it would be hard to get out.

I have a winchester multi-tool pouch that has long since lost it's multi-tool that has fit every magazine I've thrown at it (though I haven't had occasion to try a desert eagle mag lol) including singlestack 9mm, doublestack .40 and .45, and single stack .45

It holds them fairly securely with a velcro flap, and goes over the belt in two different ways for vertical or horizontal hold. I prefer horizontal around 8 o'clock.

Forgot to mention I use an open topped leather mag holder...wouldn't suggest buying it.

Some cheap brazillian company made it.

I carry in my pocket because I still haven't found a mag pouch that is inconspicuous in office wear. And even then it could look a little odd.

I use a leather leatherman multitool pouch, or look for a large swiss army knife pouch, small cell phone cases can also work

Cuff/magazine paddle weakside behind hip. A magazine holder of some sort is the best way to carry. For non LEO there are plenty of single, dual and flashlight /magazine holders out there.

Any links, names, or pics of magazine holster suggestions?

I would rather have one that has a clip so that I cant place and remove it from my belt easily.

For now, those leatherman pouch suggestions sound good. Now just need to see if I have one laying around.

I carry my spare mag weak side in a comptac kydex mag holder gun on strong side in a comptac Ctac or paddle holster depending on the weather. I actually find it more comfortable having the weight of the spare mag balancing the weight of the gun on the other hip, than carrying without a spare mag on the belt.

LOL while looking through my stuff to see if I had such a pouch I came up with this...

...the same pouch as yours! What a coincidence.

What ever you do, practice with it. I used to practice with my spare magazine on my weak side with the mag holder on my belt. Last week at the range I put my clip-on mag holder on my weak side pants pocket. Yep, when I went to do a mag change I grabbed my "AA" mag-light.

Amateurs practice until they get it right, pros practice until they don't get it wrong. Attributed to John Farnam in this case.

Best,
Rob

yes, however you descide to carry it, be sure you train with it. there are some disadvantages to not carrying it in a mag pouch on the belt, however you shouldn't train one way on the range doing something that is different from what you will be doing when you actually need to use your gun and or do a reload in a fight.

I carry my weapon on the strong side at 3:00 OWB and at 4:00 IWB. My extra magazine is in a Gould & Goodrich magazine pouch just behind my electrician's knife on my weak side. People carry so many things on their belt these days that no one ever figures I have a OWB magazine pouch under my untucked shirt.

I just have an old P5 mag pouch that I carry in the 10 o'clock position, OWB. Gun is at 3 o'clock, IWB.

However, if I'm in a hurry I just throw my extra mag into my left pocket.

If you have the talent, take some spare denims (for material) and internally expand the front mini-pocket on the rest of your jeans. .

Some of my older jeans fit 1 mag perfectly (currently the 15rd .40 M&P mag) without modification. I have a leather 2 mag pouch that I use for the range.

It's not by "Joab'. That's the name of the pouch. Dale Fricke makes the pouch and names all his holsters/pouches after Biblical persons.

I carry a Glock 19 Appendix-IWB in either his 'Ehud' or 'Archangel' holster. Keeping with the thread, AIWB carry causes a hollow area between my holster and belt buckle. I find this the perfect carry position for a vertical IWB pouch.

Those who carry thir mags in a pocket, I'll ask this: Can you access it with your opposite hand if it were to be necessary? I used to carry this way until I took an advanced class and found I couldn't get to it with my right hand when doing a single-hand reload.

With the gun/magazine both at centerline, either hand has easy access.

9 o'clock, in a standard GLOCK magazine holder (I carry my pistol at 3 o'clock). Initially I was reluctant, since the holder was plastic, but the mag actually fits very nicely inside. If you carry a GLOCK, definitely give it a try.
