I have a STAG OLL and am planning on building an AR using their tactical upper & stock.

Does anyone have any likes or dislikes regarding STAG builds? I want it to be tactical, yet comfortable. I have heard that the STAG tactical stock is not that comfortable, but it sure looks good.

I live in CA so I will be fixing the mag.

thanks

Stag parts are uniformly excellent.

My personal gun is built on Stag parts, and is real close to this one: http://www.fbmginc.com/index.php?pa...ufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

Stag upper & lower.
10.5 barrel
low profile gas block
Tac16 suppresor
YHM free float rail (rifle length, so it goes over the can)
YHM front flip up
ARMS 40L rear flip up
PRI Gasbuster charging handle
Magpull stock (I'm not using the ACE anymore, because the Gasbuster was tearing up the foam on the stock)
EOTech 553

Stag makes the best bang for the buck out there... I'm shocked they are still better priced than RRA, Bushmaster, and the likes.

The only thing they lack is name recognition like those guys, but in fact they make a better weapon overall.

You could say that in some ways, Stag is the AR worlds best kept secret... for now... Stag makes an excellent product. ;)

What stock should I get with the Stag Arms Model 2HT Upper?

I've got a Magpul CTR on mine now.

You may want to just try out the stock that comes on it for awhile before you spend any more money though. Many people really like the regular stock, and have no problem with it.

And edited to add, I sell a lot of Stag parts and complete rifles. We've pretty much phased out stocking any other brand, and now do pretty much just Stag unless somebody wants something specific (mid lengths, or varmiters).

That said, I've not had a single Stag be brought back yet. Not one problem.

Agreed. ;)

Try the stock that comes with it before deciding you hate it. I have a few of the plain jane 6 pos. stocks on a couple of my AR's, and they aren't that bad.

The CTR's are a great value if you decide to upgrade.

Stag (or rather, CMT, their parent company) is making most of the parts for many of the more popular manufacturers out there. Stag has excellent CS as well.

How is a fixed stock better then a tactical (collapsable one)?
Is it a lot more comfortable? I like the tactical look, but I heard they are not comfortable.

I am leaning towards optical sites.

It is all personal opinion. You really need to try one on first and see how it fits you. Just because it is uncomfortable for one person, doesn't mean it will be for you.

Woops....

The stock I am looking at is the ACE SOCOM Stock.
IS this a good stock?
Is it compatable with a STAG lower?
Worth the $$?

Thanks for answering my noobie questions

The stock is attached to the lower, not the upper, but yes, it will work with pretty much any AR.

I think the ACE SOCOM is the most solid of all of the collapsible stocks. However, they are very pricey.

The CTR is better, bang for the buck IMO.

Plus, like it was mentioned above, some people don't like how the foam can start to get torn up...

Darn..... I din't even think about the foam getting chewed up.

Do they sell replacement foam for that issue?

You are right, they look like they cost over twice as much.
