Hey guys. I recently purchased a stag lower for an AR build. I found it for a great price and i couldnt pass it up. However I did note that it is a slightly lighter more grayish kind of reciever and the upper from my DPMS didnt match its color. I was wondering what uppers are made out there that would be the same color as my stag lower. (besides a stag upper ofcourse, theyre a little pricey)

Thanks
S

This is a stag lower on a del-ton upper that was purchased and assembled about three years ago. I have no idea what color current production would be since the shade probably changes slightly from one batch to the next.

Build the gun exactly like you want it set up, with what ever parts you think are best for your situation.

Then spend a little more and get a DuraCoat, Ceracoat, or whatever finish you like to make it look good. Just plan and budget on getting it done, it will free up your thinking about what you want. Plus it gives you the opportunity to choose a camo pattern if you like, or just go with a solid color.

Krylon make's them match..... :neener:

Seriously, oil will also effect the colors. If you wipe down the rifle, it will change shades. That may hide things or make the difference more apparent. :uhoh:

The only way to get a perfect color match would be to get parts that were anodized in the same batch of parts. Each different batch is going to have slight differences in colors. If close enough is OK, then you can try mixing and matching at the gun show to find another receiver of a similar color. Or you can try refinishing it in one of the ways already mentioned.
