Why? I'm trying to get every ounce of velocity through that 22" cause I plan on shooting 600y maybe even out 800 for fun

So far they only offer 20" and 22" in this caliber, but a 18.5" Scout Rifle in 7.62x39 would be cool

Barrel sizes are relative unless manufacturers specify exactly how they are measured from the breach or the recoil lug etc...
20" is the perfect size and 22" from the recoil lug or even from the breach will get the most out of this nice cartrige. Anything larger than 22" might actually slow down some loads.
18"-19" if it is measured from the recoil lug then it is also a very good compromise. 16" is not the best choice for any firearm just because 18" alone gives a noticeable performance increase while in reality a 18" is not that different from a 16" barrel in practical terms. In auto-loaders a 16" with some brakes out there can be as long as 18" with a short/micro brake.

nice Rifle!

They need to release a 16" version with a threaded barrel. I. Will. Buy. It. ...

Agreed, they should come out with a threaded 16" scout, with threaded barrel, iron sights and a pic rail

To keep costs low, they do not offer the rifle in any barrel length and profile combination that is not already offered on another Howa rifle. The lightest and shortest profile that Howa offers is a 20" #1 profile. Howa does not offer any suppressor ready rifles either, so I doubt you'll ever see factory threads. Someone may step up to manufacture a rail that attaches to the receiver base locations.

my only 7.62x39 bolt action, is a ruger 77-7.62x39. i have not shot it yet. eastbank.

GREAT GROUPS and post!!!!
I will take seconds if the deal don't go through  I didn't know the thing existed!!!
Not too familiar in CZ rifles in X39. But i just started lookin....

I wasn't aware that Ruger ever chambered 7.62x39 in a model 77. What a nice little rifle. Is it a carbine? Looks like a one piece bolt. My 77/357 is a two piece bolt. I think that degrades the accuracy somewhat or maybe it's just a pistol cartridge thing. Still trying to get mine to 2 MOA using lead. Not having much luck.

it has a one piece bolt like a regular 77 and is 41.5 "long and weights a little over 7lbs with rings. its not for sale, but thanks for the interest. i have been working with my 300bk rem aac model 7 as its lighter and just about as powerfull. eastbank.

Ah yes, well before my first bolt 7.62x39...I was searching for this exact model years ago, rare it is, and what follows its price....too bad:(. Moved on:)

I will show more interest in this line when someone starts making an after market mag at less than the $52 a pop that Howa gets for spare mags.
