"Howe and Howe tech"

I'm watching this episode on the Discovery channel and they are testing a little tank that they make. They are testing new armor plating on it and are trying various pistol and rifle rounds. One of the people helping them with the testing, says he has a surprise. He pull a 50 BMG rifle out. I don't know what make it is, or who put it together, but it looks home made. It looked like a barrel and block receiver, clamped to some sort of hand made, very crude, stock.
I don't want one of these, so if any one knows who and what make it is, let me know so I can stay away from it.

Ah, you do realize that's probably not a production weapon? Howe and Howe tech is about a small scale defense company testing out new ideas, and I would not be surprised at all that they made their own .50 cal rather than buying one. It would not be hard at all to do so if you had a machine shop and skilled machinists, and as you see, it might not be very pretty but I bet it's still safe and effective for it's purpose, plus a very cost effective solution.

I kind of assumed the police department brought out the weapons, but maybe not. One of the ugliest guns I've ever seen. The show was pretty good though!

Also, check out some of the links under "Large Caliber Rifles" at this site, showing various .50 cal and up rifles. Many of them look like odd tubing and spare parts thrown together, but they work.

Many of the .50 cal rifles of the world are made with an eye towards function and little attention is paid towards pretty looks. They get the job done, however.

I thought it was weird that the .50 BMG bullet poked right through, and yet they still seemed happy.

I thought that 50 cal test a bit lacking. I wish they would have shot the plate straight on with the 50 rather than at an angle. I also wish they would have shot the window on the vehicle with some AP 3006.

Yeah, all the shots were fired at a glancing angle. Kinda cheating. I'm not saying I'd kick it out of the garage though..

But wouldn't most of the shots be glancing in real life due to the shape of Badger?
