If anybody has been looking for additional mags for the Hudson H9 (rip, i know) it looks like someone has them back in stock on gunbroker with the +2 extension

very interesting, oddly the KE design is aluminum, vs the ones on GB are plastic extensions, so they may still be making them vs selling new old stock

I was in the room with a Hudson, once. The dealer wouldn't even let me touch it. It was certainly a flash in the pan.

They had one at a local range to rent. Felt wonderful in the hand but I couldn’t keep it in 6” at 7 yards. Frustrating since at that distance the Glock I brought with me was happy inside my customary 2”.

Guess it was ultimately a good thing since I didn’t buy one (was ready to when I picked it up) and saved myself a headache from all reports.

Surprising; they commanded a premium price, and were made of unobtanium in these parts. Wasn't aware of the accuracy issue.
Also looks like there's quite a few H9 replacement parts for sale on ebay
Judging by your sig, you must be the guy to talk to about Hudsons. :)
How has yours run? Refresh my memory; what was inside that housing on the dustcover? Do I recall some claims of recoil mitigation?
Thanks,
Moon

FWIW, KE Arms is offering the mag extension on its own, since they were an OEM parts subcontractor.
Wow, they have a lot of major parts; guessing they don't have enough of the smaller bits to build a whole gun.
They must have rushed in and scooped up the parts when Hudson went down.

Yeah Hudson has been super reliable for me, plus, as they all say, shoots so flat. I don't think the housing had much to do with recoil per se, as much as it had to do with lowering the bore axis (raising the relative location of the hand on the grip and trigger) so the force from the recoil is more into the palm and less a torque, so reducing muzzle rise. Basically what's under the dustcover is the recoil spring, but I think the shape also had to do with the trigger being 1911 style while being a striker fire platform.

The Hudson was an interesting gun. The first two we got in sold within days on Gunbroker. The 3rd one took over a year. I don't think I've ever seen a gun drop in popularity as quickly as it did. Why? I have no idea. It was very well made and, by all accounts, functioned as expected. In concept it seemed like a perfect meld for 1911 fans and striker fired fans. The only thing I can guess is that the 1911 purists and the Glock(ish) purists were equally appalled and simply outnumbered those who were accepting of the concept.
Some people really like vanilla ice cream. Some people are huge fans of hot dogs with mustard and onions. I doubt there would be much of a market for mustard swirl vanilla ice cream.

I don’t remember the source since it has been so long, but the explanation I heard made sense to me.

They said that Hudson made the mistake of announcing the new upcoming improvements on the next generation model WHILE still having a substantial inventory of the first model still on hand.

Thus, orders stopped coming in because customer/dealers were waiting for the new models. So Hudson was stuck holding the bag. They were not financially strong enough to produce the new one until they sold their inventory.

I think it was a number of things, what I had heard was that the issue of people delaying purchases contributed to cash flow issues, but they also had a massive supplier quality issue, the two at once were too much to overcome given how new the firm was.

It’s too bad, very few guns felt better in my hand. The one I shot just didn’t shoot straight.

Bet it would have eventually took off, was a fun design

I had one for a while, bought it used for way under msrp about a year after they came out.
Fun to shoot but just not very accurate, not sure if it was the jumbo front sight. Tolerances were good, wasn't loosey-goosey like a GI .45. Really liked the trigger. And amazing how they made a doublestack steel frame that thin. But a year after Hudson went kaput it was obvious there was no parts support. Even for basic parts like firing pins & extractors.
Still a fun gun and glad I got to own one for a while, a good design and if Hudson had hung on a bit longer and made a few more improvements it'd have been a winner.

Parts are where they are; we do well to grab when we can.
Extra magazines, from Colt's recent run of '03s, showed up online.
I was all over one like white on rice; the extras disappeared quickly, and I've seen none since.

Happy Monday

Because its Monday and no longer embargoed I've Edited to add:
Daniel Defense introduces their H9 at SHOT.
I transferred one last week to a gun blogger.

Lets hope DD offers repair service and the DD parts fit the originals.

Ok but, parts can be different while still being compatible. The AR is a testament to this. I'm actually shocked by how similar the guns appear, especially little details about the grip, trigger and chassis. Also we know DD extensively used DLC coatings, so presumably any part which was previously nitride but now DLC would sound as different as well.

Lol, I had a theory with your original post lol. what with when DD seriously investigating reviving this was originally leaked, alongside the fact that all their purchased IP is slowly ticking toward expiration...it kinda had to be this year lol. Has the magazine intercompatibility been confirmed?
