I've been reloading 9mm and 45acp for almost 2 months and would like to jump into rifle reloading as well. I use a Remington 760 gamemaster 30-06 for whitetail and would like to make an accurate load. The mag in the gun likes round nose bullets better and I usually use core lokt 180g in round nose. I found these Hornady InterLock Bullets on Midway http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=780246 has anyone here had good results with these? As for powder I was thinking maybe Winchester760? Any other suggestions?

I'm loading on a Lee Turret, I understand I'll also have to get a case trimmer and case lube. Any other tools that will make my life easier?

Cartridge headspace gage in .30-06 will help ensure correct setup of resizing die and for final check of loaded ammunition dimensions. I used the Wilson brand, there are others.

I like the Redding dies with the carbide expander ball upgrade. Eliminates need to lube inside case necks and reduces brass stretching on resizing.

Thanks, I'll look into those. My Lyman book recomends IMR4350 for 180g bullets, anyone have any experience with this powder?

I tried several powder and bullet combinations before settling on 57 grains of IMR4350 pushing 165 grain Sierra BTSP's for less than 1" groups. From what I read beforehand that's a well-known combination for the -06. I got good but not great results from the same powder (and others) for 180 grain bullets.

Same powders for a 180 RN as any other bullet. IMR4895, H4895(close but not the same), IMR4064 or Varget.
There's something odd about a mag that prefers any particular bullet though.

I'm a fan of IMR4350 for that application and the .270 win.. A couple others that work well for that cartridge is H1000 and RL19. Any of those 3 will offer you good velocity and accuracy.

I am also using 57 gr of 4350 behind 165 gr Nosler Partitions and getting MOA groups out of a Rem 700. The reading I've done suggests the 165 is an optimal weight for the -06 unless you have a real need for heavier bullets.

I usually load a 165gr bullet for 30-06 hunting ammo and a 168gr Match bullet for practice. I charge 58.0gr H4350 under both. If you use IMR4350 drop the charge weight to 57.0gr.

I can't really think of anything the 165s haven't been enough bullet for with a good healthy worked up charge of one of those slow burner's behind it. Some mentioned something about backing off with IMR4350 a bit and that is a good suggestion. Even when loading for the .270 win. I noticed when I got up toward the maximum charge the pressures jumped up pretty quick.

I've been using WW 760/ H414 under a 150 Grain Speer BTSP for big game.

That load has taken several dozen deer and elk and one bull moose, all with one shot.
