Lots of great choices, I really like 7mm mag. Just saw a you tube showing 7 Mm to be optimal round hunting round out to 1300 yards. But the 30-06 will do as well to 400 yards or more. If I ever need it, I have it. I'd get something different.
I second the vote of pbrktrt. A Weatherby Vanguard in .257 Weatherby. The new S2 Weatherbys have one of the best triggers on the market and they shoot lights out. If you are a reloader, the cost of ammo should not be a concern..
Cabela's has the price to beat..
