ok so what i am getting from y'all is the M1A is not worth the money as a hunting rifle/shooter. Well I think y'all have convince me away from it for now but i know it will be one of those things that sit in the back of my mind telling me i should but an M1A.

I am leaning towards getting both because well thats more guns. I love the M1A family as a real wood gun just feels better, but i want what is economical as well.

I think you just answered your own question. As to which one first, I'd imagine the M14 type.

I noticed you are in Minnesota. Ar15s are now legal in .223 and I used one to take a 240 lb buck. I doubt you should go after bear or moose with one.
