"The host of the Sportsman Channel hunting show "The Syndicate" was charged Monday with two felonies related to poaching in northwest Alaska.

Karen Loeffler, the U.S. attorney in Alaska, said at a news conference that grizzly bears, moose, caribou and Dall sheep were illegally killed in the Noatak National Preserve with the illegal kills ending up on the cable television show.

"The charges show five years of documented, illegal take of wildlife involving over two dozen big game animals," Loeffler said."


"Clark Dixon is charged with taking a grizzly bear for a fee in 2010 without being a licensed and registered big game hunting guide. He's also charged with conducting an illegal outfitting operation since 2009. Prosecutors say he also lied about Alaska residency to take advantage of hunting privileges for locals."

Looks like the State is also trying to seize his fathers aircraft.

Oh he'll lose the plane if convicted all right.
A well known guide/poacher I knew here had lost 1 plane already to ADF&G. Caught again he set fire to his new plane to avoid forfeiture. "They ain't getting another."
Problem is there's so much money to be made here guideing [typical moose bear runs about $15000] it brings out greed in some people.

$15K for a quality guided moose hunt in AK or Western Canada is a bargain now days. Guided hunting up North has gotten way out of my price range.

Well, my idea of a guided hunt is maybe a meat pig hunt for 200 bucks or a guided goose hunt over at Eagle Lake, 20 miles down the road. LOL Suddenly, Argentina is looking affordable.

The day is young.
Seems like somebody involved would have made sure they were legal. I saw that prison reality show Lockdown. They had featured an Alaskan prison. It looked very clean.........

The Sportsman Channel might need to start babysitting the producers of the shows that they air. I like that channel. Their good shows are available on demand with my TV service provider. It sucks when you can't trust somebody to do their job.

It is amazing how many of these well known hunters (celebrities and hunting show 'stars') that get caught poaching.

Way I figure it, to get as many kills on film as they do, it probably boils down to either poaching or hunting a high fence ranch.

Most high-fence ranches I've seen have pastures of over several sections. A high-fenced oat patch, maybe, like LBJ had on his ranch.
