Just that. I am planning to camouflage hydro film dip a stock. I have done other hydro-dip projects but none were gun related. Motorcycles, bicycles and cars but no guns. So, then, those things were all top coated with a two part gloss clear. I am certain a gloss finish is not what I want for a camo dip stock but then I cannot decide if I want a little satin sheen or none. Any opinions for a camo dip top finish (Real tree, Veil, Mossy etc)? I will be shooting a 2K clear, meaning a two part catalyzed coating that will cure as hard as glass, like the finish on your car or truck.

Ive spray bombed a few rifles. The matte camo was fine. Added a spray bomb matte clear and it added some shine/ sheen. Not bad but def changed the look.

To be clear (pun), I am not using rattle can products. I am using a two part urethane clear for top coat The camo is a dip film over a bonding undercoat.

After some more thought, I think you are right, matte is the way to go as that is how the several factory stocks of similar nature appear to be finished.

You could always do the paint/clear test on some turkish shotgun ;)

The problem is that these types of materials are expensive (and toxic) so I would like to do this only once. A Turkish shotgun, nope. I already have a turkey gun but it is not Turkish .

I have matte clear on order and the dip film, Veil Cervidae camo, on the way. I like the UHW bonding paint. Hopefully I can get this done in the next month, weather allowing.
