Hype surrounding Ruger SR22

200 rounds today through new SR22. Zero FTF or FTE. Two different brands of cheap Wal-Mart ammo. Pleasantly surprised with accuracy. At 15 yards, all shots within the circumference of a soda can, when I did my part. Not bad for $290.

I have about 300 rounds through mine. One FTF, but i'm sure it was the primer, as it didnt have a light strike. Cheap walmart 333 ammo. Overall I think the fit and finish is excellent for a $300 pistol. No loose barrel issue as some have mentioned, trigger is smooth. I'm very happy with it and would buy another.

Finally got back to the range with it last weekend. I put hundreds of rounds through it of various ammuntion. I only had one failure to feed this time. It was with this federal ammo I have never seen before that is specifically made for semi auto guns. It otherwise shot well with everything. Accuracy is still not what I like out of a gun, but I was out shooting my brothers MKIII. I had my XD with me again, and I swear, I can't miss with that gun, so I know that its the ruger and not me as far as accuracy is concerned. I still think a big part of it is the trigger. None the less, I was plinking 3" diameter steel targets at 30 feet, and usually hitting 8 out of 10. I still love shooting the CCI stingers out of that gun. Makes you feel like you're shooting a .380. The guys shooting the cheap bulk stuff are always asking if you're shooting something other then a .22.

On my first time out shooting my SR22, I had a couple failures to feed, the slide would be forward, but it failed to strip a round out of the magazine. I finally figured out that my support thumb was getting too touchy-feely with the slide. The way I tend to hold my glocks, my support thumb sometimes touches the side of the slide while im shooting.

With the glocks it doesn't seem to make a difference, but with the SR22, the friction was just enough to slow that little, light slide down and cause a failure to strip the next round.

I've since tightened up my grip form, and haven't had any problems. I agree that the SR22 trigger feels a little weird, but after I got used to it, it doesn't bother me at all, and the pistol has proven to be much more accurate than I expected.
