I’m now a BelievAR.

If you have the tools, then you can get part of your fix by building ARs for friends.

My gateway to this path came through a friend who is a DEA agent. I had no use for ARs...whimpy round, ugly black things, everybody's got one. He brought his to the range one day and encouraged me to shoot it. I realized that ARs have great ergonomics and are fun to use! I was hooked.

I've invited many more to accept our infection since then. There's sick pleasure in helping another become an addict, just like me.

In the spirt of the thread, doesn’t that make you an “enablAR?”

I am not an AR fan. Nevertheless, I have built one, owned six, and still have two. I guess they really are like Lay's potato chips!

I built my first about a year ago.
I've taken it out of the safe to go shoot once.
It's mehhhh
I got it because liberals didn't want me to have it. I've considered selling it and buying a new revolver. I'll probably keep it though.
It's fine. I don't hate it. They're just not my thing.
I know a lot of folks end up buying multiples. My brother got one about the same time I did, and he already wants more.
So, while I'm not one of you AR lovers, I do get it.

I took these before I acquired #10. I’ve changed scopes and mounts on a couple including the 24”.

This is a valid reason in my opinion. Get em while their hot!

I kinda want to buy several of PSA's freedom rifles and give them as xmas gifts this year. I'm sure my FIL would love one, right?

Just buy stripped lowers & let the addiction spread from there. Once they start building...

I enjoy AR rifles. Light, accurate, reliable, easy to work on, parts are almost everywhere, with just over 6 decades worth of refining.

It’s a great American, general purpose rifle that’s really become “normal” since the sunset of the awb and after 17 years of GWOT. It’s almost normal in the way 30-30 levers used to be in south Mississippi. Maybe as much so.

Hope you really enjoy yours, OP!

I helped a buddy build his first AR, and now he’s assembled 5 in one year. It’s definitely addictive because I just completed another today.

I never had one before last year, and now understand why all the excitement, you can't have just one. Danced around it, saying I have a Sagia 223, and a couple of Mini14's, and then the price dropped, after the Donald was elected, and that was all it took. Simple, accurate, and easy, what more could you want?

Never get into building them--once you buy the tools then the AR builds will come. And come and the twitch will get especially bad around holiday sales online.

LOL... Oh come on, though it might be risky for your wallet, you gotta buy the tools, that's half the fun!!!....LOL

The limiter for me on AR's is the amount of ammo I'm willing to supply for them. That's the reason I don't have more. I would like a 450 bushmaster but I don't want to feed it.

Update:
Completed Frontsite class. During test (OMGoodness windy! Couldn’t hear!) I Failed to take two shots during the test and I missed graduating by four points! Frustrating.

During the competition at the end, I was one of a few that hit the 200 yard shot standing twice. Not bad for a guy who has shot an AR only a few times in his life.

Learned a lot. Know the AR better. Glad I didnt buy a trigger. Bought a Magpul stock that somewhat upgraded the experience. Found that there is a cool Raptor charging handle, didn’t buy it this time. $100 too much for now.

All in all, in one weekend I doubled my total annual round count, so I’m pretty happy.

Thanks for reading guys.

Now, what is this about PSA uppers on sale on Black Friday!?

Good to hare that you enjoyed yourself and learned more about your rifle.
The Raptor is a very nice charging handle but there are others that will not break the bank.
Here is the Raptor and the Lakota Arms charging handles, the Lakota is about $60 less.

I bought the Radian Raptor in AR-10 format for my DPMS LR-308. BIG IMPROVEMENT! Especially with the recoil spring in the .308 ARs, which make the actuators a little harder. Those tiny grips on the originals are pitiful, for the larger bore carbine.
