I initially put in a minimal bid amount on a fairly well-worn model 36 that had 12+ days to go on the auction and since forgot all about it. Then last night I received a GB email that I was outbid by $5.00. I upped the bid by $5.00 triggering that darn 15 minute rule and went on to other things expecting the other bidder to bump it again. Ten+ minutes later a got a GB email that I won it.

So, now in a few days I’ll have another model 36 (to go with the 5 I already have) that I need like a hole in the head. Oh well, after 3 or 4 years of always being out bid, I finally get out of that “Not rated” category. :D

The part that made me laugh is that the seller is in Massachusetts, but has in his listing that he doesn’t sell to Massachusetts residents. :uhoh:

Congrats on winning your first bid. Love those J frames, especially the 3" barrel versions. Would like to see a photo sometime of your Model 36 collection.

People often are afraid to bid on anything that has cosmetic or mechanical issues. I go out of my way looking for these. One time I was the only bidder on a like-new Colt .357 that had a free spinning cylinder.

I won, and for peanuts I had bought an almost-like-new Colt, where the only problem was someone had reassembled the cylinder bolt spring backwards. I turned the spring around and the gun worked fine.
