I bought it for all the wrong reasons.

Several years ago, I purchased an original Remington Model 51 manufactured in the 1920s. So when the new ones were put on the market, I was eager to buy. However Remington rushed it to market and sales stopped for a few years while Remington reengineered and retooled. Eventually they came back on the market and I purchased. I loved the size and planned on using as an EDC up until I started reading the reviews. Well it went into safe and got forgotten. I took it out and lube it up and went to the range yesterday. I ran 100 rounds through it, and took it back today for another 100 rounds. All hand loads of various powers and projectiles. Absolutely no issues shooting. Not one mishap, no feed issues, or jams of any kind; but boy it’s a bear to breakdown for cleaning and reassembly.

After reading the initial reviews about the way it fit in the hand and looking at the pictures I was sure pining for one… but like NIGHTLORD40K said, if it isn’t practically free for me to buy I’ll pass on one. :(

Stay safe.

I have 2 of the originals, one in each caliber.

I thought I wanted a new one but after reading the horror stories, I put the money into another Luger. I have not regretted it.

I like my R51 a good bit. Reliable and fun to shoot. But I don’t carry it and don’t often shoot it either. I just dread so much having to break it down for cleaning….

It isn’t often I can do it without a measure of profanity at some point in the process.
