Bullet points for my gripe:

> Bought a brand spanking new PX4

> Went to Dicks and bought 500 rounds of UMC 9mm

> Got the range and the gun jammed 36 of the first 100 rounds and the slide would rarely lock back after the last round

> Told the range master and he came over and loaded a full mag and it kept jamming

> RM told me that the UMC seemed to be too weak to rack the slide far enough back to either properly seat the next round or lock the slide back all the way. To be sure he took my gun up front cleaned the crap out of it, lubed it and brought it back to range. He then picked a few rounds out of each of the remaining boxes of UMC, loaded a mag and it still kept jamming.

> He then took a box of Atlanta Arms ammo loaded two full mags and blew through all 34 rounds without a hiccup.

Anyone else have a similar experience with this ammo/gun combo? I bought 2 boxes of the Atlanta from the range and did not experience any issues.

Thanks!

I've heard other complaints about UMC, and always in 9mm. Seems they might undercharge their 9mm's a bit. .45 ACP runs like a champ for me.

The only hiccup I've ever had with my XD.45 was with UMC. I ran some of their .32ACP through a 1903 Colt a while back as well, and got multiple stove-pipes and FTEs. Plus the stuff was WAY beyond dirty.

I must say however that th PX4 was a really nice shooter once I started shooting the Atlanta. Little recoil and accurate.

My friend and I have found the same thing with 9mm UMC. It keeps jamming in his Walther P38 and my CZ 52 with a 9mm barrel. Both guns run great with WWB.

UMC is the only brand of ammo that has ever choked any of my guns. I shoot WWB religiously and have never had a jam or failure in close to 10,000 rounds in at least a dozen different semi-autos.

Give up on the UMC!

Jim

I've had nothing but bad luck with UMC ammo in the past, I refuse to buy the stuff now.

I've put well over a 1k rounds through my Px4 with no issues whatsoever, I'm sure if I fed it some UMC however my good track record would go down the drain.

I don't know if there has been a formula change from those yello UMC boxes, but I've used the Remington Green Box UMC 9mm in my new Sig and had Zero problems in 200 rounds so far.

no problems with any ammo run through my PX-4, sorry to hear your badluck. The UMC, at least for me, is excessinley bright and loud for what little energy it creates. You know the difference between these and WOLF! I prefer WWB or wolf, and both have run flawlessly for 1K+

I bought a PX4 in 9mm a while back. Something like 2 years ago now. I only shoot UMC ammo at the range. I only had one issue and a round was seated to far into the case. I cought this before loading it into the mag. I have put at least 6k rounds and never had an issue with it jamming..etc.. Infact the only time the gun messed up was due to user error.

It sucks that you have all that UMC that will not work in your PX4, At least you found out at the range.
