I just purchased this 66-2 with 6" barrel from a local dealer on Saturday.

It included the original box, all papers, an S&W custom holster (see the plastic bag in some pix) with the S&W logo embossed on the back, and a extra set of combat style grips (not pictured because I gave them to my son who needed them worse than I did ;) The grips that are on it I believe to be original).

This gun is as tight and clean as a brand new one - not even any gas cutting under the top strap. No end shake or side shake, excellent B/C gap. Not a scratch anywhere on the metal or the grips. (I did do a Flitz shine before taking these Pix).

We took it out to the range yesterday (Sun) to try her out and it was as accurate as any S&W I have in my collection (translation = TACK DRIVER!) I never even had to adjust the sights.

I paid $400 + Tx for this 66-2 with 6" barrel (made on 11/12/1986) and I could not get them down to less $$. But I believe that, considering the grips and holster and box w/papers, that was worth the money. What do the rest of you people think? (Besides they gave me a free cheap chinese folding knife and a T-shirt with the shops name/logo on it (which I also gave to my 32 yr old son :) )

I believe that the combat grips were stock, not what you have on it now. I would be an indian giver and get them back to retain more value if you ever plan to sell. Beautiful gun.

Very nice gun. Mine own has a few dings and scuffs that need to be worked on a bit because it's been carried more on woods walks and hunting trips than any other I own.. Actually the grips look like the stock grips that came on mine. They didn't fit my hand well and I put Hogue grippers on. Then my wife "claimed" it so put a set of Uncle Mikes grips to fit her hands. I stll have the originals though. In my opinion one of S&Ws best general purpose revolvers ever.

I just checked my BBGV and it says that "current" models have combat grips, so i don't think a 20 year old gun would qualify as "current". Still a good looking gun!

Brings back a lot of memories. Too bad it doesn't have recessed chambers but man, it is one gorgeous gun! It's a shame one can only get one of those used. I've got a 686 that looks a lot like that. Also a 629. To me they're better than Colts.

The other 'Combat' style grips were not S&W logo. So I'm quite sure they were not the originals.

But thanks for the compliment! :)
