I carry around the house does this sound crazy

I was the "victim" of a home invasion years ago. It happened at around ONE IN THE AFTERNOON in a big apartment complex, people everywhere. Perp was too drug-addled stupid to care about things like being seen (or fully clothed, which he wasn't).

He also wasn't expecting to be run out at gunpoint. I wasn't carrying it; had to dash to where it was kept. Now, I carry one in a SOB holster, even in my living room. I don't think it's because I'm crazy; the WORLD is crazy, and I'm along for the ride.

If you're crazy then I am also. I carry from "pants on" till "pants off" every day. A S&W 642 and one speedloader is not that much of a burden...

Me too, although I'm in boxers within 8 minutes of getting home from work, and my 226 / high noon rig tends to wriggle them off. I need to have the wife sew belt loops on my underpants.

I actually consider that a good test of your choice for a carry weapon. If its so comfortable that you have it with you all the time your doing something right.

FYI:SOB carry could be hard on the spine if you take a fall. Something to consider.

I don't "carry" at home, I carry the gun room to room, no holster. Generally my HK45. It's just my wife and I so no rug-rats to worry about.

I usually keep the gun on me if I'm hanging around the house fully clothed. When I'm not, there is a firearm that is loaded and can be put into action in 5 seconds or less no matter where I am in the house. The only place you can catch me defenseless is outside in the pool. If stuff goes down out there, I'm hopping the fence and [leaving]!

OP, I've been doing it for years. Many others also carry guns at home. There's nothing abnormal about it. It may be a bit odd to those who haven't been exposed to guns and gun culture. I've come to learn that there is no such thing as the "social norm" anymore. Do as you wish, within the reasonable limits of the law.

yeah hoplophobia can be a real <deleted> somtimes :banghead::mad:

Ok guys I carry a gun around the house well when my better half's sister found out you would have thought I was loaded for bear all the time I assure you I am not I do carry my ccw and a spare mag does this sound crazy to y'all.

It's smart to do in these days of home invasions. Hell, we had 2 within the 2 miles around us in the last couple of years.

I don't carry loaded for bear, but I do carry at home loaded for hairless apes. It's my EDC P32. DW carries while doing her gardening mostly for coyotes but also for the apes.

I figure a few shots in the direction of the threat will give me enough time to get to my bigger guns 10 to 30 feet away if it should ever come to that. Now if I lived in bear country in the middle of nowhere, I'd be loaded for bear. :)

I allways carry around the house, except when I'm in the pool also, never know when I'm going to go out for something like mail etc. in fact I don't even realize I've got it on my hip.

I've known a lot of cops that talk about how fast things can go bad in a home invasion and that many keep one on them at all times. I see nothing wrong with it. She's entitled to her opinion and so are you. Safety begins at home...that's how I see it.

I've always thought carrying at home made great sense. The weapon is under your constant supervision and control and you can access it immediately if you need it. It basically scores the maximum on two common concerns: safety and speed of access. A better question is why wouldn't you do it?

A wise man once said:
It's not the odds, it's the stakes.

Another wise man once said:
Carry 24/7 or guess right.

Someone who clearly can not hold a candle to either of those men once said:
Wouldn't be crazy if u live in very bad place.

That is the problem--people think that they are safe if they "are not in a bad place".

Guess what? The people who live in the "bad places" know that those of us who live in "good places" have the stuff they want. What stands between them and you...other than a car ride?

I think you have already connected the dots correctly. Don't let an ostrich convince you otherwise.

Good to read all these posts that I'm not the only one that carries in his house all the time. I do try to keep it concealed as much as possible. I'm not out to intimidate anyone. If I need it, I just want to know its there. I'm in corrections, and its not uncommon to see some of my ex customers on the streets.

I carry at home. The way I see it is, if I have to go somewhere there is no chance of me forgetting or leaving my firearm somewhere. If my pistol is not in reach, it is locked up. Bedside safe for loaded, standing safe for unloaded. Easy to remember. I usually carry a spare magazine when I am outside of the house but typically take it off if I am not planning on going anywhere for awhile.

You live on earth. This is a high crime planet.

This.

Home invasions happen in every type of neighborhood. No one is completely immune from it.

Yes, I carry 24/7 where legal to do so, including in my home.

You know whats more uncomfortable than carrying around your house? Being beaten to death by a gang of home invaders because your gun is locked in the safe 2 rooms over.
