I checked out the Marlin 1894

So i decided to go with the 30-30 lever action and went to big 5. They didnt have the 336 but they had a 1894. Very nice, very light. I liked every thing but the sights. I had a hard time focusing on the front sight. They also had a lever action made by PUMA. I have never heard of them. Are they any good?
And how easy would it be to change the sights myself on the marlin?

Not hard at all. Do you want a peep sight or what? Puma's are ok, they are made by Rossi. I have a navy arms (high grade Rossi) in 357. They are good guns a copy of the 1892 winchester. I like the feeling of mine better than the 94 marlin. How much is Big 5 wanting for them now. If you want a 30-30 you should be able to pick one up just about anywhere. Walmart, Academy everyone carries them.

New sights are easy on the Marlin.
Williams makes a peep sight that will fit the drilled & tapped holes on top.
I have one on one of my Winchesters and really like it.
The Puma isn't drilled and tapped, (at least mine isn't).
However the longer Puma's are drilled and tapped for a tang sight.
My buddy has one and likes it a lot. Personally, I don't care for 'em.
If you don't hold it right, it can bit you in the web of your hand under recoil.

Both of my buddies Puma's came from Steve, and they are SWEET!
Steve is a real good guy and can set you up just about any way you like, for a fair price. The only drawback is he's running about 6-8 weeks last time I checked. That's the only reason I didn't get mine there.

I have a marlin 1894CB and like it a lot. Shooting 38 special it has like zero recoil or muzzle rise. Women and kids love it.

It depends on what you want to use it for.
Marlin 336 30-30 is a long action.
1894 Marlin's and 1892 Win/Puma/Rossi copies are short actions for handgun calibers.
1892 Puma / Rossi come in varying degrees of quality.
Marlin is pretty consisten and smooth up well. Sights can be changed. Plus all USA made if that matters to you.
