After My frame cracking issue (Taurus treated me Great). I took this thing apart and Polished Everything I could. I noticed that there was some wear on the frame rails from the slide movement only in certain areas, and I started looking at the Slide it'self and the channels that ride on the frame rails and there were "burrs" or areas in the channel that were not exactly smooth. I cleaned these up. Polished inside the channels and Frame rails. I know it's not a High Dollar pistol, but Cleaning out burrs and polishing the channels and Frame rails, made a huge difference in the way this thing feels and shoots. The Slide action is unbelievably smooth now. It feels like some of my friends Kimbers and Sigs. I then I polished the recoil spring guide, the slide catch lever, slide disassemblyLatch, and safety lever. Afterwards I added a slip on Pachmayr model three grip. I have since fired over 800 rnds with out a single issue ( no frame cracks) and notice no new visible wear on the frame rails other than some dulling of the polish, which is acceptable. It has become a Pleasure to shoot. At first I was having my doubts about this Gun but after I put my time and sweat into this thing it has turned out to be something that I am kinda proud of. I know it's not a high end Pistol, But this is my first Handgun and I did'nt have more than the 345.00 I paid for it when I bough it new. For the money in a .45 I found nothing compareable as far as Rnd capacity, size, weight, Look and safety features. All in all I'm pleased with it now. I'm saving My Pennies for something else But I think Im going to hang on to this one. I have attached a Picture of it, it's not the greatest Picture and it does'nt do it Justice. But you get a general Idea of the Difference it made, Minus the smudges. I was just wondering what you guys think about it!!! Dont Bash me too Hard.

Hey Pain,
I think that is a good looking pistol, and I believe Taurus has got the frame thing straightened out. Shoot well..............

I used different types of Jewelers rouge, Jewelers polishing wheel, Dremel..........

I did more work to it this weekend, and it now looks like it's been chromed....The Gun range here in Ft.Worth asked me where I got it. Who did the work etc...

As far as what to get......the Glock is a better firearm but it costs more and for me I have not shot one yet that was comfortable to shoot. (felt like holding a 2x4), and I'm a pretty big guy 6'2" 195. But thats just my opinion. Also I think that they are ugly and plain, they all look the same. I prefer to have something different and something that turns heads. Everyone at the gun range has seen a Glock. The Taurus is a little less common ( maybe thats because the Frame cracking Issue and they almost lost my faith in their product because of it) But I'm very convinced that they have that Issue fixed. All in all I think that for the money you can't beat it. In the .45cal pistols there is no comparison as far as mag capacity, size weight, safety, and looks anywhere near that price range. You can get a better gun, Better looking, more accurate etc, but they will jump considerably in price. For this you will sacrifice rnd capacity, weight etc... I guess it just matters for you
and what you seek in a pistol. Under 450.00 there is'nt a better bang for the buck!
